New Mexico: The University of New Mexico Football Strength and Conditioning Staff is now accepting applications for volunteer interns to work with football for the Spring 2017. Applicants should have a desire to become a strength coach, and though this position is unpaid, interns may nonetheless earn a recommendation for future career opportunities. The internship begins Jan 29th and ends May 12th. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, weightroom up-keep, maintenance, workout set-up and clean-up, data entry, research, and nutrition prep. Applicants should either possess or be working toward a SCCC or CSCS certification. First-Aid, CPR, AED certification required. Southern University (Baton Rouge, LA): Southern University and A&M College (Baton Rouge, La) is accepting applications for volunteer Strength & Conditioning interns for the 2017 Spring Semester. The Southern University Strength and Conditioning staff are looking for highly motivated and disciplined individuals who want more than the normal “intern” experience. Responsibilities will be dictated by performance and attitude. Interns will be hands on with 13 Division 1 athletics programs, and will be expected to contribute at a high level from the first day. Energy, passion, and a tireless work ethic are a must. Preferred qualifications include: SCCC, CSCS, or USAW certifications; CPR/AED certification and previous coaching experience. Recommendations for future career opportunities will only be granted to those who excel in their duties, and are serious about adding to the field of strength and conditioning.
