Arizona: The University of Arizona Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for Volunteer Interns for the Spring of 2018. This internship will begin anywhere from January 8th, 2018 – January 15th, 2018 and will conclude at the end of May 4th, 2018. This is an unpaid position. Compensation will include gear, learning from an approved mentor via the CSCCa, potential to sit for the SCCC certification, and recommendations for future career opportunities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for the University of Arizona Football team and other University Athletic Programs, set up and break down for daily training, routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facilities, and completion of the internship curriculum. Required qualifications include a strong work ethic, completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional in the collegiate or professional setting. All applicants should have, or be working towards an accredited certification (CSCS or SCCC). Other preferred qualifications include previous coaching in a collegiate setting and personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport. Applications will be taken until the positions are filled. Kutztown: ​Kutztown University is seeking 2 Volunteer Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coaches for the Spring 2018 semester. Coaches will be responsible for the design and implementation of strength, speed and conditioning programs for 3-4 teams each. Teams will be assigned based on background and prior experience. No monetary compensation will be provided. Assistance obtaining a part-time job to supplement will be provided upon request. Dartmouth: Dartmouth College is seeking VOLUNTEER interns for the winter term 2018 starting in January. These individuals will gain valuable experience at the college level as well as credit approved by their institution. The internship will involve assisting in: the supervision of training sessions, different training methods, nutrition, learning/executing exercise technique, daily maintenance of equipment, and educational research. Trinity College (Hartford, CT): Trinity College is accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Coaches for the Spring 2018 semester. Opportunities include: completion of volunteer hours for an academic degree program, assisting in the supervision and training of 29 Division III intercollegiate athletic programs, and access to our strength and conditioning intern education program. Wright State: Wright State University is seeking four (4) volunteer Strength and Conditioning interns for the upcoming 2018 spring semester. This is an UNPAID position. Accepted applicants will receive practical hands-on experience in strength and conditioning at the Division 1 level, as well as the opportunity to participate in the intern education curriculum. Required qualifications: First Aid/CPR/AED training, the desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, a strong work ethic, the ability to commit to AT LEAST 20 hours per week, and effective communication and teamwork skills. Preferred Qualifications: CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification, or in the process of obtaining any or all of the aforementioned certifications, and previous coaching experience. Responsibilities: Assist full time coaches in implementing programs, set up and break down of training sessions, weight room maintenance and upkeep, intern curriculum assignments and projects, and any other tasks or projects assigned by staff as they arise. Shorter (GA): Shorter University Strength and Conditioning Graduate Assistant Location: Rome campus. Shorter University, a NCAA II institution which competes in the Gulf South Conference, invites applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Graduate Assistant Coach.Shorter University sponsors 18 varsity sports with over 400 student/athletes in the various programs. Candidates must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. The program is designed to provide each participant with a holistic and valuable practical experience in the field of Strength andConditioning. The placement will involve a number of the following duties & responsibilities: *Assist Director of Strength & Conditioning in all aspects of training for the 18 Div. II varsity sports. *Attend weekly training seminar on teaching correct techniques for appropriate workout regimens, teach athletes proper technique and perform diagnostic biomechanical analysis of an athlete’s movement. *Assist with supervision of the weight-room (equipment maintenance and cleaning, exercise supervision, safety issues etc.), program design & responsibility for 3 - 5 assigned sports teams. *Assist with the input of test data, research, and testing, and discussion of professionalism, budgets, weight room safety and set-up. GAs receive 31 hours of tuition remission for graduate courses only; if pre-requisites are needed they must be covered by financial aid or applicant’s personal funds. Qualifications: Potential candidates must have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. All candidates must be enrolled for the 2018 Spring Semester and maintain satisfactory progress towards degree completion to maintain the position. Required: Undergraduate degree in related strength and conditioning field; 1 – 2 years coaching experience, in the weight room, is preferred. The candidate must be able to articulate their salvation history clearly and meet the Core Spiritual Requirements listed in the Graduate Assistantship guidelines, which say, among other criteria: “Must regularly attend and be actively engaged in a Bible-believing church.” Preferred: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Sports Management. Applicant should hold, or be working towards, a Strength and Conditioning Certification from one of the following organizations: NSCA – CSCS, USAW, CSCCa, and must be up to date on CPR/AED certification. GAs are asked to make a minimum 16 to 24-month work commitment to Shorter, depending on the master’s program and hours allowed each semester.
