Tennessee: The University of Tennessee is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill the SPRING 2021 PAID internship working primarily with football. This position will start in January and end in May. It can be extended to summer of 2021, depending on performance. Individuals chosen will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I program, as well as future recommendation for employment if all requirements are fulfilled. Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: shadowing with, warms ups, implementation of proper lifting techniques, spotting and daily operation/maintenance of the weight room, record keeping, and helping create a great training environment. Qualifications: Candidates must have a strong work ethic and have experience working in a Collegiate Weight Room setting. Candidates will be certified or actively pursuing certification from CSCCA and/or NSCA. Interns must be able to work a variety of times including days, nights, and weekends if necessary. ETSU: East Tennessee State University Football Strength & Conditioning is seeking hard working, enthusiastic candidates to fill THREE internship positions for the Spring Semester (January 8th to April 30th). Candidates must be completing or have completed a degree in Exercise Science or a related field and have a current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification. The successful candidates should have a strong desire to not only pursue Strength and Conditioning Coaching as a career, but to also obtain Strength and Conditioning Coaching Certifications either from the CSCCa or the NSCA. Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the Strength and Conditioning staff. James Madison: The James Madison University Football Strength & Conditioning Department is currently accepting internship applications for the Spring 2021 (January-May). This position is UNPAID, and our internship is designed for individuals who want to become collegiate strength coaches. Successful applicants may be asked to stay on for the Summer 2021, at the discretion of the Strength & Conditioning staff. Duties include: Set up and breakdown of strength training sessions, assisting in the deployment and collection of GPS units, equipment maintenance and any other duties assigned by staff. Interns will have the opportunity to assist with all aspects of spring training with the JMU Football Program. Qualifications: Applicants must be pursuing, or have completed, Bachelors or Masters in Exercise Science or a related field. Averett: Averett University Athletics is seeking a highly motivated individual to serves as a Graduate Assistant, Assistant Coach for Sports Performance. The Coach will reports directly to the Head Sports Performance Coach and will assist in the sports performance programs for all of Averett’s competitive sports. Duties are, but not limited to, assisting the Head Sports Performance Coach in designing, implementing, conducting, and monitoring strength and conditioning programs for his/her assigned sports. The Graduate Assistant Sports Performance Coach will also work in conjunction with the Averett Sports Medicine Staff to coordinate rehabilitation of sports related injuries, the implementation of Return-to-Play Protocols, along with educating students about proper nutrition, hydration, and supplementation. Additional duties are to assist with coordinating, maintenance, and staffing of weight room/strength facilities; assist in identifying and purchasing needed strength and conditioning equipment,; assists in scheduling weight room times for his or her assigned sports teams. The successful candidate must be able to develop positive relationships with faculty, staff, and students while interacting successfully with department personnel and the University Community. Requirements for this position are: A bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related Health Science field from an accredited college or university, hold a current, nationally recognized strength and conditioning certification (NSCA – CSCS, CSCCa- SCCC, USAW, NCSF – CSC; CSCS preferred), be CPR/AED certified and be accepted into the Averett University Master’s Program.
