Kentucky: The University of Kentucky’s Olympic Sports Strength & Conditioning department is seeking volunteer interns for the Summer 2020. Interns will have the opportunity to work with all the Olympic sports at the University of Kentucky. Volunteer interns may have the opportunity to earn a paid position come the Fall 2020. Other details include; Start Date: June 8th, 2020. End Date: August 6th 2020 (this date is negotiable). Interns will complete our internship curriculum, which includes programming projects, drills to improve coaching ability on the floor, leadership seminars, and how to network within the profession and preparation for future job opportunities. No monetary compensation provided. Opportunity to work alongside our Nutrition department. Breakfast will be available each morning. Gain experience working in an SEC athletic department. Possibility of earning a positive recommendation and evaluation based on work performance. May receive credit towards completion of a college degree or certification. Tennessee Tech: Tennessee Tech University’s Athletic Performance Department is seeking qualified applicants for one Strength and Conditioning graduate assistant effective August 2020. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, design and implementation of sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for assigned teams, demonstration and instruction of lifting techniques, supervision of team and individual workouts, and assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of the Athletic Performance Center. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a related field; CPR, AED, and First- Aid certifications; and nationally-recognized certification (NSCA-CSCS or CSCCa-SCCC preferred). Preferred qualifications include at least one year of experience as a strength and conditioning coach/high-level intern and experience working with football, softball, and baseball student-athletes. Position includes educational benefits in a master’s degree program along with a monthly stipend during the academic year. Old Dominion: The Old Dominion University Sports Performance department is now accepting applications for 2 UNPAID interns for the SUMMER 2020 semester. This internship will begin May11th and expect to last till the end of the summer. Depending on performance, these interns may be asked to return for the Fall semester. Those chosen will gain valuable experience working within a Division 1 sports performance department while assisting with the design and implementation for sports such as football, field hockey, and lacrosse. In addition, those chosen will gain experience working with sports science modalities such as ForceDecks and Playertek. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision and execution of the sports performance programs, set up and break down for daily training, routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facility, assisting with nutritional station duties, and completion of the internship curriculum. Required qualifications include a strong work ethic, completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, and a strong desire to become a sports performance professional. In addition, one should be pursuing or have CSCS or a relevant certification (NSCA, CSCS; CSCCa, SCCC; NASM, PES; USAW).
