UMass: The University of Massachusetts-Amherst is currently accepting applications for the SUMMER 2017 volunteer internship positions. These are positions for the summer 2017 training session, May 22nd – July 28th, with the opportunity to stay longer. Qualified candidates would work with all facets of a NCAA Division 1 FBS football strength and conditioning program. This is an UNPAID position. However the position offers the opportunity for advancement in the field of strength and conditioning, as well as the fulfillment of credit hours towards a degree program. The position is responsible for assisting football strength and conditioning staff with the implementation of the summer program, set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (USAW, CSCS, CSCCa), previous coaching experience and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements. Texas: Texas Men's Basketball Performance is currently seeking applicants for a volunteer UNPAID internship for the Summer Term 2017. Required qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree in exercise science or a related field and a strong desire to become a Collegiate/Professional Strength & Conditioning Coach. Preferred qualifications: Experience as a collegiate athlete and currently pursuing or possessing NSCA, USAW, or CSCCa certification(s). This is a non-paid volunteer position. Tennessee State: Tennessee State University is currently accepting applicants for 2 UNPAID strength and conditioning interns for the summer of 2017. The position will begin May 15th and end July 28th. The position offers no financial compensation and the chosen applicant will receive nothing but experience at the division 1 level and a recommendation for future employment based on quality of work done. Required qualifications: The applicant must be punctual, hardworking, either have or be pursuing an education in exercise science or related field, and have a strong desire to become a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach. Preferred qualifications: Experience as an athlete or strength and conditioning coach at the college level and currently have or are pursuing a CSCCa, NSCA, or USAW certification.
