Jacksonville: The Jacksonville University Strength and Conditioning Department are currently accepting applications for Volunteer Strength & Conditioning Interns for Fall 2019. The deadline to submit applications is July 1 st . This is an un-paid internship but successful candidates will gain valuable knowledge and expertise working with 18-Division 1 Collegiate Sports. Applicants should be working towards a degree in Exercise Science or related field. Completion of this internship can be used to fulfill credit hours towards a degree, earn future recommendations for advancement in the field of Strength & Conditioning, and internship hours necessary to sit for the CSCCa Certification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: include having or working towards a certification from one of the following organizations: CSCCa (SCCC), NSCA (CSCS), or USAW. Previous experience working in the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning setting or previous collegiate athlete experience. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have First Aid/CPR Certification, able to pass a background check, and a basic understanding of weight-room related exercises. This position is responsible for assisting with all training aspects for Jacksonville University’s 18 Division-1 Collegiate Sports, the set-up/break-down of all training sessions, maintenance/cleaning of the Athletics Field House Weight-Room, and completion of weekly assignments related to the field of Strength & Conditioning. The staff at Jacksonville University places a great emphasis on setting our interns up for success in the field of Strength & Conditioning through continuing education and hands on coaching experience. Augustana (SD): Augustana University, after recently announcing a goal of transitioning to Division I intercollegiate athletics, invites applications for the opportunity of Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. Located in the growing and vibrant city of Sioux Falls, South Dakota (with metro area of roughly 250,000 people), Augustana University has, for more than 150 years, provided a strong student- centric education based on its five core values: Christian faith, liberal arts, excellence, community and service. Currently with 19 NCAA Division II sports programs, Augustana Athletics is focused on building champions in the classroom, in competition and in the community. Consistently ranking in the top twenty of the Learfield Directors’ Cup for all of Division II, Augustana announced the approval by the Board of Trustees in December, 2018 of AU: Vision 2030 which will guide the university going forward. The goal of transitioning to Division I intercollegiate athletics is part of that vision. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports, communication with coaches, athletic training staff and administration. Compensation includes tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. Candidates must be admissible to the graduate school. Grand View: Grand View University Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for an internship position for Summer 2019 working with all programs. This position will have the opportunity of continuing into the Fall 2019 academic year as a paid Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. Internship responsibilities will differ and include various duties within the Grand View Strength and Conditioning department. Responsibilities will be assigned as they are earned. Hours will vary during the summer and will include early mornings and late afternoons. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs for various sports, daily maintenance and upkeep of facility, and completing an internship curriculum. Candidates will receive valuable hands on coaching experience in all aspects as well as the opportunity to learn and grow in the field of Strength & Conditioning. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a BA/BS in Kinesiology or Exercise Science related field, or completing it by end of summer. CPR, First Aid and AED certification required. Possess or be working toward CSCS through the NSCA or the SCCC through the CSCCa. CSCCa mentorship is available to assist your eligibility for the certification. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, positive energy, attention to detail, sense of urgency, and strong work ethic. Skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel is recommended. Bradley: Bradley University Sports Performance Department is looking for applicants for 3-4 Sports Performance Interns for Fall 2019. This is an UNPAID, VOLUNTARY internship, and candidates are responsible for ensuring financial feasibility. Compensation includes premier Division 1 Missouri Valley Conference sports performance experience and possible recommendations for future career opportunities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with the implementation of the strength and conditioning programs for assigned Bradley University sports programs (including strength, speed/agility, conditioning, flexibility, mobility and recovery protocols), daily setup and breakdown for training sessions, routine maintenance and cleaning of weight room facilities, completion of a assigned strength and conditioning curriculum and other duties assigned. Potential candidates must possess a strong work ethic and character, high energy, effective organization and communication skills, and a strong desire to work in the sports performance field. Required qualifications include CPR/AED certification, as well as earned or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related degree and CSCS or SCCC certification. Qualified applicants may also receive course credit towards graduation (if applicable). The internship will start on August 19th, 2019 and end on December 13th, 2019.
