Catawba College (D-II - NC): Catawba College is currently accepting applications for the position of Sports Performance Intern. This is a PAID position lasting 10months (August 1 – May 31). The stipend will be 6k. This position is responsible for assisting the Sports Performance Department with all aspects of football training, daily weight room maintenance, and the design and implementation of programs for up to 5 varsity teams. Winthrop (D-I - SC): Winthrop University Sports Performance Department is accepting applications for Interns, for the FALL SEMESTER 2018 Strength and Conditioning Program. Responsibilities include assisting the Strength Staff in all aspects of developing and implementing strength, speed/agility, conditioning, flexibility, mobility, and recovery protocols for the Winthrop Athletic Program. Additional responsibilities will be to provide; daily weight room supervision, daily upkeep and maintenance of equipment, assist with and conduct performance and strength testing, completion of internship curriculum, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Applicants must have a strong work ethic and desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Candidates should be enrolled in or completing their degree in an Exercise Science undergraduate/graduate program and should be certified in CPR/AED, and working towards certifications from any of the following organizations: NSCA, CSCCa, or USAW. Previous experience in an intercollegiate strength and conditioning program preferred. Position: This is a non-paid internship position. North Florida (D-II): The University of North Florida Strength and Conditioning Department is in search of qualified candidates for 2-4 volunteer internship positions for Fall 2018. This is an unpaid position. Successful applicants will gain valuable experience working with Division-I athletes, knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a Division-I strength and conditioning program, and potential class credit. Day to day responsibilities will include setup and breakdown of lifting/conditioning sessions, facility maintenance and upkeep, and other tasks given by the full time staff. Prospective applicants should hold or be working toward a CSCS or SCCC certification, and/or be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Exercise Science or a related field. Additional qualifications include a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning coach, punctuality, high energy, and confidence in a group setting. Start date is Friday, August 17, 2018. Manhattan: Manhattan College, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking applications for vacant position of Part Time Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. The part time strength and conditioning coach will report directly to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. This is a 9-month position starting in August running through the end of May with possibility of renewal. Salary will be $10,000 paid in monthly stipends. The successful candidate must be committed to assist in managing the program within the guidelines of the NCAA, MAAC and Manhattan College Department of Intercollegiate Athletic policies and procedures and will be expected to work cooperatively with all constituencies and campus units. Knowledge Skills and Abilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for aspects of design, development, implementation, monitoring and assessment of the strength and conditioning programs for multiple Olympic sports as assigned and operate under direct supervision from the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Candidates will work closely with the sports medicine staff in providing injury rehabilitation. Description of Job Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the strength and conditioning program including but not limited to: program design and implementation for assigned teams, meetings with sport coaches and sports medicine staff, facility management, equipment maintenance, daily set up and break down, etc. This position requires working early mornings, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays. Qualifications: Required qualification: (1) Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, (2) a nationally recognized certification (SCCC) by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and/or (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, (3) 1-3 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level and (4) certified in AED/CPR and First Aid. All candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with all members of the college community.
