Virginia: The University of Virginia is accepting applications for Football Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Interns for the 2020 Winter/Spring. The internship will start January 13, and continue through the duration of Spring Practices. You will complete a 9-week education program, developed by the UVA Strength and Conditioning Staff. This is an unpaid internship. Responsibilities will include: Daily weight room maintenance, set-up, tear-down, assist with supervision of weight room and field work. Interns must be motivated, able to follow specific directions, and have a strong work ethic. Interns will be essential in the demonstration of exercises and ensuring training groups are efficient. Interns will receive hands on experience to multiple training methods, Tendo Units, and Catapult. You will spend two hours a week on the floor and an hour a week in the classroom, being coached and taught by the UVA Strength and Conditioning Staff. Interns should be working towards a Bachelor’s Degree, and certifications through the CSCCA-SCCC, or NSCA-CSCS. Interns will gain collegiate experience at the Division I level, and potential for future recommendations for future career opportunities. FAU: Florida Atlantic’s Olympic Sports Strength & Conditioning Department is seeking a Strength and Conditioning Fellow, Boca Raton, FL. Florida Atlantic University is a public university in Boca Raton, FL home to 18 NCAA Division I Athletics Programs in Conference USA & CCSA Conferences. This is a 12-month appointment with an intended start date of January 2020. The position is subject to a university background check. Summary of Responsibilities Include: Assisting in all aspects of the FAU Olympic Sports Strength & Conditioning program, design and implementation of sport specific training programs for 3-4 Olympic Sports teams with the opportunity to assist with other Olympic Sports, but candidates past working experiences & strengths will be taken into account in assignment of specific teams. Help mentor current/future Interns, & Volunteer Strength & Conditioning coaches. Ability to effectively teach and execute proper technique of lifts and drills; supervision of team workouts; assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the Strength & Conditioning Facility & compliance with all appropriate university, Conference USA, and NCAA Rules/Regulations. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization with at least two years of experience in Athletic Performance (Strength & Conditioning) at the NCAA, professional or Olympic level required. Master’s degree is preferred. CSCCa (SCCC) or NSCA (CSCS) as well as CPR / AED certification required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs & Athletic Performance (Strength & Conditioning) related technology is highly encouraged.
