Central Michigan: The CMU Strength and Conditioning Department has spring 2018 unpaid academic internship opportunities available for undergraduate and graduate degree seeking students. Applicants must receive academic credit from current University to be considered. These academic internship positions are designed to engage current students actively seeking a career as a strength and conditioning coach in the day-to-day operations of a Division I weight room. Students will be exposed to all aspects of an NCAA Division I strength and conditioning program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision and training of ALL varsity programs, completing weekly requirements set out with a hands on weekly curriculum, assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties, and teaching techniques in a wide variety of lifts.These intern positions provide the opportunity to gain valuable experience while working in a dynamic, educational based, and collaborative environment. Ideal candidates will be certified or actively pursuing certification from NSCA and/or CSCCa. If candidate is currently in pursuit of CSCS certification, Central Michigan University is an approved online proctoring site for the exam. Interns should be prepared to work up to 40 hours/week, which may include days, nights, weekends and/or holidays. All interns will receive instruction in, and be required to comply with, NCAA and Central Michigan University rules, regulations and policies. UTEP: The University of Texas at El Paso is looking to hire two (2) graduate assistant strength and conditioning coaches for the spring semester of 2018. The Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coaches will assist with football and Olympic sports as assigned. They may also be placed in charge of 1-2 teams of their own. This position holds the responsibility of ensuring compliance with the NCAA regulations, and UTEP policies and procedures. A Bachelor’s degree is required preferably in sports or health sciences discipline, such as Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or other related field . 6 Months to 2 years of experience in strength and conditioning is required. CPR, First Aid and AED certification is required. The preferred candidate should possess a certification with the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC) or National Strength and Conditional Association (CSCS). This position includes full tuition waiver, books, and stipend, and is limited to 2 years in duration. Samford: Samford University Department of Strength and Conditioning is now accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning SPRING 2018 VOLUNTEER INTERNS. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to; assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs for all Sports, teaching student athletes proper technique and equipment use, attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities and participation in weekly projects and professional development throughout the internship program. Compensation: Division 1 experience with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. NO MONETARY COMPENSATION WILL BE PROVIDED. Candidates must have a strong work-ethic and have a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree or be in the last semester of coursework for undergraduate degree in exercise physiology or related field of study. Temple: Temple University Department of Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning is now accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning VOLUNTEER INTERNS during the Spring Semester of 2018. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to; assisting with supervision and execution of athletic performance programs for Olympic Sports, facility maintenance and completion of Temple University’s Strength and Conditioning Internship Curriculum. Compensation: Division 1 experience with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. NO MONETARY COMPENSATION WILL BE PROVIDED. Preferred candidates will possess previous strength and conditioning coaching experience or collegiate athletics experience. Preferred candidates will be working toward completion of a Bachelors degree in a related field as well as pursuing a nationally recognized certification (CSCS, SCCC). Nicholls State (FCS): Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA is currently accepting applications for Spring Semester Strength and Conditioning Interns. This is an UNPAID position but can count towards school credit. Start date will be January 15, 2018 and end mid-May. · Qualifications include a strong desire to have a career in strength and conditioning; currently enrolled in an exercise science program or similar focuses; and have or are working toward a CSCS (NSCA). · Preferred qualifications include holding or working toward a CSCS and a general knowledge of the strength and conditioning field; experience designing and implementing training programs; knowledge with Olympic lifting teaching techniques and the ability to control large groups. · Intern duties include assisting with one on one training sessions and team training sessions; set up/break down of conditioning/agility session; daily/weekly upkeep of facilities, completion of educational assignments, and data entry/maintenance. · Internship benefits include having the opportunity to coach numerous Division I athletic teams, including football and experience weight room, conditioning, agility, and performance testing sessions. Central Methodist: Central Methodist University Strength and Conditioning is accepting applications for an immediate Graduate Assistant position. The Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will assist the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with all aspects of training for all sports. This position is designed to prepare the individual to become a full time strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level. Bachelor’s degree required from accredited 4-year university, preferably in sports or health sciences discipline, e.g. Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Movement Science or other related field, 0-2 years of relevant experience in the strength and conditioning field. CPR, First Aid and AED certification required. Possess or working towards a certification through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC) or National Strength and Conditional Association (CSCS). This is a 12 month appointment lasting 2 years. Position includes full tuition waiver and stipend. Citadel: The Citadel is currently accepting applications for two VOLUNTEER Strength & Conditioning (S&C) internship positions. The internship will last from January 4 – April 27. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division I S&C environment under the guidance of an approved CSCCa mentor. Minimum requirements include CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; an unwavering work ethic, a desire to become an industry professional, the ability to adjust to a demanding work schedule, and effective communication and leadership skills in a group setting. Other preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (NSCA, ACSM, USAW, CSCCa, etc.), previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with computer productivity applications. Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, daily, weekly, and semester long professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the S&C staff.
