Abilene Christian: Abilene Christian University is currently accepting applications for VOLUNTEER Strength & Conditioning interns for Spring 2020. No monetary, housing, or food compensation will be provided. The internship will last from January 10 – April 30. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division 1 S&C environment under the guidance of an approved CSCCa mentor. Minimum requirements include CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; an unwavering work ethic, a desire to become an industry professional, the ability to adjust to a demanding work schedule, and effective communication and leadership skills in a group setting. Other preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (CSCCa, NSCA, USAW), previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with computer productivity applications. Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, daily, weekly, and semester long professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the S&C staff. East Tennessee State: East Tennessee State University Football Strength & Conditioning is looking for THREE hard working, enthusiastic, energetic volunteer interns who can communicate, are confident, mentally tough, and can have a presence with coaching Division 1 Football Student-Athletes for the Spring 2020 Semester. The individuals chosen for this position must be able to begin January 17th and work through April 30th. This is an UNPAID position, in which the successful candidates can receive academic credit if applicable, experience working with a Division 1 Strength & Conditioning program, and consideration for a recommendation for future employment in the strength and conditioning field throughout the country. Exceptional individuals may have the opportunity to work themselves into open graduate assistant positions within the program for Fall 2020. Candidates must be completing or have completed a degree in Exercise Science or a related field, and have a current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification. The successful candidates should have a strong desire to not only pursue Strength and Conditioning Coaching as a career, but to also obtain Strength and Conditioning Coaching Certifications either from the CSCCa or the NSCA. A CSCCa 640-Hour Mentorship can be completed during this internship. Illinois: The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Olympic Strength and Conditioning Department (non-Football & non-basketball) is currently accepting applications for our Spring 2020 volunteer internship. This is a voluntary position and will receive no monetary compensation. Accepted applicants will have the opportunity to gain experience coaching Division I (Big Ten) student-athletes, as well as, participate in a practical and classroom-based education program. Interns will be eligible to apply internship hours towards undergraduate/graduate internship requirements. Upon successful completion of one semester, interns will have the opportunity to receive a recommendation for future positions. Minimum qualifications include: current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; currently pursuing (or holding) a degree in an exercise science related field; a great work ethic and strong desire to become an industry professional. Preferred qualifications include: currently pursing (or holding) a certification from a recognized governing body (NSCA, CSCCa, USAW, ACSM, etc); previous internship/coaching experience; experience as a collegiate athlete; Microsoft Office proficiency; and the ability to commit to at least 20 hours per week. William Peace (D-III - NC): William Peace University, located in downtown Raleigh, NC, is seeking applicants for a Strength & Conditioning Intern position for the Spring 2020 semester (January 2020 – May 2020). This is an UNPAID/VOLUNTEER position. However, successful completion of this internship may result in fulfillment of academic credit hours towards an Exercise Science or related degree program, as well as increased opportunities for advancement in the field of strength and conditioning. The intern will be responsible for assisting the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with the day-to-day operations of the Pacer Performance Center including but not limited to: assisting with team training sessions, daily upkeep of the facility, and managing of performance center “open hours”. More responsibilities will be added as they are earned. Internship curriculum will include teaching and coaching of exercises and proper movement patterns, creating an annual training plan, programming of training blocks, learning effective communication skills, building and maintaining a professional network, and participation in continuing education/professional development opportunities. Minimum Requirements: Applicants must possess a strong desire to be a strength and conditioning coach, a strong work ethic, a Bachelor’s degree (or in final year of degree) in Exercise Science or related field, First Aid CPR/AED certification, and be in pursuit of a relevant strength and conditioning certification (CSCS, SCCC, USAw, etc.).
