Maryland: The University of Maryland is currently accepting applications to fill four (4) Spring 2018 volunteer internship positions. Qualified candidates would work with the Olympic Strength and Conditioning Department. This is an UNPAID position that is responsible for assisting the UMD Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the Spring 2018 program, set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion of Bachelor's degree by the commencement of the intern program/current pursuit of a graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (USAW, CSCS, CSCCa). Purdue: Purdue Football Strength and Conditioning is currently accepting applications for internship positions for SPRING 2018. This VOLUNTEER internship will expose participants to all facets of Strength and Conditioning. This is an UNPAID position that will last for the duration of the spring semester. Interns will complete both an academic and practical curriculum. Academic experiences include weekly reading assignments, program design projects, daily meetings/discussions with full time staff members, and weekly evaluations. Practical experiences include hands on experience in running a Division I Athletic Performance Department, staff meetings, daily maintenance, technology implementation and record keeping. Interns will receive experience working with various teams in a Division I training environment, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable. Intern qualifications include: enrollment in a bachelor’s/master’s program in exercise science or related field, punctuality, enthusiasm, and strong work ethic. Qualifications: As part of compliance with Purdue University Athletics Department, students interested in applying must need the experience for class credit. Upon completion of the internship, the participant is awarded 2.0 CEU’s, or 20 contact hours, of continuing education for the CSCS, CSPS, NSCA-CPT, or TSAC-F certifications according to the guidelines set forth by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Additional Preferred qualifications include SCCC or CSCS certification, CPR/First Aid certification. All applicants should be highly motivated, hardworking and possess a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional with a definitive plan to take a nationally recognized certification (CSCCa, NSCA),upon completion of the internship, if not sooner. Villanova: Villanova University is currently accepting applications for volunteer strength and conditioning interns for Spring 2018. Starting January 14th – ending May 1st.These openings will work with both Football and Olympic Sports. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor’s degree program; Must have CPR/AED/First Aid certification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (1) CSCS and/or SCCC certification; (2) Experience competing in intercollegiate athletics or (3) experience working in a collegiate strength and conditioning facility. This is an unpaid position. However, volunteers will receive experience working at a Division I program, receive Nike athletic apparel, some meals will be provided, gain a better understanding of program design, have the potential to earn a paid internship position, earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if, applicable. Please send ONE (1) attachment containing your cover letter, resume and three professional references. Please submit TWO (2) YouTube videos of you performing/coaching a squat and an Olympic lift variation of your choice to Villanova University Strength and Conditioning Staff at
