Colorado State: The CSU Football Strength and Conditioning department has a number of unpaid internship opportunities available for spring 2017. These positions are designed to engage students who actively seek a career as a strength and conditioning coach in the day-to- day operations of the football weight room. Students will be exposed to all facets of an NCAA Div. I FBS football strength and conditioning program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with the daily operations of the weight room, helping to create a positive training environment, assisting with distribution of nutritional supplements under guidance of a registered dietitian and strength and conditioning staff, record keeping and facility and equipment maintenance. These positions provide the opportunity to gain experience and examine career opportunities in intercollegiate athletics while working in a dynamic, exciting and collaborative environment. Students are encouraged to examine all aspects of the strength and conditioning program in an effort to maximize exposure to potential career opportunities. Individuals must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse community and advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Ideal candidates will be certified or actively pursuing certification from NSCA and/or CSCCa. CSCCa mentorship program will be available for candidates seeking to obtain the SCCC certification, pending mutual agreement between the candidate and the Head Football Strength and Conditioning Coach. Preference will be given to candidates who are enrolled in a strength and conditioning educational curriculum and need internship hours as part of their educational requirements and candidates actively seeking SCCC certification through the CSCCa mentorship program. Interns should be prepared to work a variety of times including days, nights, weekends and holidays. All interns will receive instruction in – and be required to comply with – NCAA regulations and policies. San Jose State: San Jose State is looking to hire volunteer / intern athletic performance coaches. No financial compensation will be provided. San Jose State University is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of VOLUNTEER/INTERN in the Athletic Performance Department for spring semester, 2017. The capable candidates will have the opportunity to advance their competence while gaining valuable knowledge and experience in the field of Athletic Performance at a Division 1A institution. Responsibilities for the positions are: assist AP staff with all daily maintenance and operational duties, involvement in volunteer/intern professional development program, as well as other duties assigned by the Head Athletic Performance Coach.Applicants should have completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Exercise Science or a related field and working towards CSCS or SCCC. Must have a strong desire to be involved in Athletic Performance at the collegiate level; proficient in Microsoft Excel; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; must be diligent and willing to learn; adhere to all University, Mountain West Conference and NCAA regulations.
