Maryland: The University of Maryland is currently accepting applications to fill six (6) Summer/Fall 2017 volunteer internship positions. Qualified candidates would work with the Olympic Strength and Conditioning Department. This is an UNPAID position that is responsible for assisting the UMD Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the Summer and Fall 2017 program, set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion of Bachelor's degree by the commencement of the intern program/current pursuit of a graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (USAW, CSCS, CSCCa), previous coaching experience, personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport, and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements. Clemson: Clemson University Basketball Strength & Conditioning is seeking qualified applicants for our volunteer summer internship program. This position will work directly with the basketball programs, and be afforded the opportunity to observe and assist Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning athletic teams. Interns will gain experience in a highly competitive Division I Collegiate Strength and Conditioning setting. Our fully comprehensive Internship Curriculum will offer many learning opportunities through work assignments, guest speakers, discussions, and hand-ons workshops to help build a solid coaching foundation, as well as future recommendation toward employment. Interns will work directly with Director of Basketball Strength & Conditioning, Mike Bewley and Assistant Basketball Strength & Conditioning Coach, Kaitlyn Cunningham, in combination with staff members of Clemson Olympic Strength & Conditioning. Candidates must be working towards or received a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in exercise science or related field.
