Rice: The Rice University Football Strength & Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for VOLUNTEER coaches for the Fall of 2019. The internship is scheduled to begin July 31, and will run through the end of the Fall semester. This is an unpaid position; however, this opportunity offers a valuable professional recommendation for advancement in the field of strength & conditioning. Responsibilities include, but not are not limited to: assisting with the daily implementation of in-season training for the Rice Football team, set-up and breakdown of daily strength and conditioning training sessions, routine maintenance, cleaning and organization of the training facility, data collection, as well as participation in a vigorous internship curriculum. Interns will also have the opportunity to assist in the design and implementation of various Olympic Sports training programs. Prerequisites include CPR/AED Certification, as well as completion of, or working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. LSU: Louisiana State University is currently accepting applications for 5 Fall 2019 Volunteer Internship positions. Qualified candidates would work with the Football Strength and Conditioning Department as well as other Olympic sports. This is an unpaid position that is responsible for assisting the LSU Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the In-Season program, set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Participation in Collegiate Athletics is preferred. Other preferred qualifications include certification from an accredited organization, previous coaching experience, and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements. There is no monetary compensation so if this position is not an economically feasible option for you, please do not apply. Air Force: The United States Air Force Academy Football Strength and Conditioning Staff is currently accepting applications for 2 hard-working VOLUNTEER/INTERNS for the 2019 Fall camp/in-season period. Qualified candidates will work directly with the football program beginning around the first week of August and may have the opportunity to continue their internship through the Spring semester based on their performance. We are looking for eager and enthusiastic individuals with a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning at the collegiate level. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the strength staff with COACHING the athletes, the set-up, break down and implementation of all training sessions; daily upkeep and maintenance of weight room equipment; assist with daily administrative tasks and any other duties assigned by the Head of Strength and Conditioning and/or his Assistant Strength staff. Qualifications: Will have obtained or be working towards a degree in Exercise Science or a related field, as well as possess or be working toward their SCCC certification from the CSCCa and/or there CSCS from the NSCA. CPR/AED certification is mandatory and all qualified candidates must be able to pass a background check. Qualified candidates will receive hands-on experience working in a Division I football program, participate in continuing education sessions to build their knowledge in performance and nutrition, and have the opportunity to build and establish professional relationships for future employment recommendations. Appalachian State: Appalachian State University Department of Athletics seeks highly motivated candidates for an Intern position to assist with implementation and supervision of strength and conditioning programs for men’s basketball. A minimum of one year experience in a collegiate strength and conditioning setting is required. Experience with Olympic-style lifting, plyometric training and speed development is required. Successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills to teach/motivate a diverse population of student-athletes, interact with support staff and coaches. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in health/fitness, sport science or related field preferred. Candidate must be working toward certification from either the NSCA - CSCS certification examination and/or CSCCa - SCCC certification examination and have a current CPR and first aid certificate. A background in technology and athlete monitoring is preferred. This internship is for individuals who have the goal of being a collegiate strength & conditioning coach, others need not apply. Compensation: Division I Intercollegiate experience, earned recommendation toward further success as a Strength & Conditioning Coach, and college credit toward graduation if applicable. The Citadel: The Citadel is currently accepting applications for two VOLUNTEER Strength & Conditioning (S&C) interns for Fall 2019. The internship will last from August 21 – December 6. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division 1 S&C environment under the guidance of an approved CSCCa mentor. Minimum requirements include CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; an unwavering work ethic, a desire to become an industry professional, the ability to adjust to a demanding work schedule, and effective communication and leadership skills in a group setting. Other preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (NSCA, ACSM, USAW, CSCCa, etc.), previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with computer productivity applications. Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, daily, weekly, and semester long professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the S&C staff.
