Washington State: Washington State: Washington State University is still accepting applications for Summer 2021 coaching internship positions that would work with the Football Sports Performance Department. Thisposition will be responsible for assisting with all departmental functions involving day to day training sessions. The internship program contains an academic portion as well as a practical portion involving mentorship in both the art and the science of coaching at the highest level of college football. Required qualifications include a desire to become a sports performance professional, consistent and reliable personal conduct, and a strong work ethic. Other preferred qualifications include certification from a nationally accredited association (CSCS, SCCC), previous coaching experience in a collegiate or high school setting, and personal experience as a collegiate athlete. There is no monetary compensation so if this position is not an economically feasible option, please do not apply. Official start date would be May 24. Houston Baptist: HBU’s Football Athletic Performance Staff is looking for interns for the Summer semester of 2021. We are looking to hire 3-4 professionals who are highly motivated and passionate about developing athletes through physical preparation and injury reduction. Interns that are accepted to be apart of our program will get hands on coaching experience working with football athletes at a Division 1 University. This internship is set to run from early-June through late July. The exact start and end dates are to be determined. Applicants must be seeking career advancements in the field of Athletic Performance/ Strength and Conditioning working with football athletes at the collegiate level. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field and/or a certification through the NSCA or CSCCA. Please be aware that this is an UNPAID internship. If this internship is not economically feasible for you then please do not apply. Successful interns will have the opportunity to earn a recommendation for future employment in the field. Valdosta State: The Valdosta State Athletic Department is accepting applications for multiple Strength & Conditioning graduate assistant positions. Graduate assistants will help promote the Blazers’ 12 NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletic programs. Valdosta State University is a member of the highly competitive Gulf South Conference and won the NCAA Division II National Championship in Football in December of 2018. The Strength & Conditioning Graduate Assistants will receive a monthly stipend in addition to tuition remission (not fees). Responsibilities include, but not limited to, design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports, assisting with other sports when needed, provide instruction for safe and effective lifting techniques and equipment use. Also track performance, strength progress, and communicate regularly with head coaches and athletic training to collaborate on program design and modifications. All applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in health and human performance related field, and have a strong desire to pursue a career in the strength & conditioning field. Applicants must be CPR, AED and First Aid certified, and must be certified or working towards certification through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC) or National Strength and Conditional Association (CSCS) Appointment contingent on candidate being accepted to the VSU Graduate School in the program of the applicant’s choosing. All graduate assistantships are renewable for two consecutive years (two years total). The 2nd year appointment is contingent upon successful completion of GA duties and responsibilities which includes maintaining a minimum of six graduate credits each semester of assistantship and maintaining at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA. The candidate appointed to the position will receive a yearly stipend of approximately $6000 in addition to a tuition waiver. This person must be willing and able to work daily office hours and nights and weekends throughout the academic school year including vacation periods.
