Texas Southern: The Texas Southern University Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for Volunteer Intern Strength and Conditioning Coaches for the Summer of 2019. Projected dates of the Internship are June 3 rd through August 9 th 2019 with the possibility of an earning an extension. This is a voluntary position and will receive no monetary compensation. Priority consideration will be given to Candidates who possess or are working towards Certification through the NSCA or CSCCa and are CPR / First Aid / AED Certified. Desired attributes include outstanding organizational and computer skills, great work ethic and professionalism. Previous coaching and / or playing experience is a plus. Verbal communication skills with diverse populations is a must. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Set up and breakdown of training sessions for all sports, general maintenance and upkeep of Athletic Facilities, communication with Sport Coaches, Athletic Training staff and Administration, assist with Olympic Sports with the possibility of working with Football. Must be able to physically demonstrate strength and Olympic lifts as well as speed and change of direction movements. Added responsibilities as earned, such as, input into program design and leading groups / teams. Our goal is to develop COACHES. Selected candidates will receive valuable experience in the day to day operations of a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Department, program design and implementation, nutrition, speed, agility and explosive training.
