Delaware (FCS): The University of Delaware Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for VOLUNTEER INTERNSHIPS in Strength and Conditioning for the Fall semester of 2024. Start dates for the internship are August 26,2024 through December 11,2024, with the possibility of earning an extension. This is a voluntary position. Neither monetary compensation nor housing or meals will be provided. Priority consideration will be given to candidates who possess or are working towards their BS or MS degree in Exercise Science or a related field, who possess certification through the NSCA or CSCCa, and who are CPR / First Aid / AED Certified. Volunteer sports performance interns will have the opportunity to complete the CSCCa 640-hour Practicum under an approved CSCCa mentor. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Set up and breakdown of weight training and conditioning sessions for all sports, general maintenance and upkeep of athletic facilities, assist with sports nutrition and assist with data analytics. Interns will work with Olympic Sports as well as football. This position is for people interested in becoming sports performance coaches. Selected candidates will receive valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of a collegiate strength and conditioning program. Interns will also have professional development opportunities through the completion of internship curriculum assignments and discussions. Claremore Public Schools (OK): Claremore Public Schools is seeking a full-time Assistant Athletic Performance Coach. This position will assist the Director of Athletic Performance in the daily operation and maintenance of the 13,000 sq/ft Claremore Zebra Performance Center. The Assistant Athletic Performance Coach will assist in all facets of training consisting of exercise prescription, program design and implementation, injury reduction strategies, optimization of physical conditioning, improvement of athletic abilities, and physical performance evaluations. Specific sports and additional responsibilities will be assigned based on the experience, strengths, and weaknesses of the selected candidate. Candidates are required to have a degree (Bachelor’s and/or Master’s) in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Performance, or related field; must be a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa); and must be AED/CPR certified. A teaching certificate is not required, and there will be no sports coaching opportunities tied to this position. This position requires a thorough understanding of long-term athletic development, exercise and sports science, strength and conditioning principles, and the ability to effectively communicate and motivate student-athletes. Familiarity with and/or the willingness to learn how to utilize performance technologies and its data (GPS, force plates, timing systems, VBT systems, etc.), willing to become or are already USA Weightlifting certified, and have previous coaching experience as an athletic performance / strength & conditioning coach at the high school or collegiate level are preferred. Baker (NAIA - KS): The Baker University Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking to fill ONE Graduate Assistant position. The position will report directly to the Director of Strength and Conditioning. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with all sports including football and the opportunity to lead 2-4 teams to be determined upon hire. Hours will vary and will include early mornings and late evenings. Other responsibilities include: daily maintenance and upkeep of facility, interns, etc. Candidates will receive a full tuition waiver, gear, valuable hands-on coaching experience in all aspects as well as the opportunity to learn and grow in the field of Strength & Conditioning. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a BA/BS in Kinesiology or Exercise Science related field. CPR, First Aid and AED certification required. Preferred Qualifications: Certification as a Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCCa, CSCS, or USAW) or must be able to obtain within six months of hire. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, positive energy, attention to detail, sense of urgency, and strong work ethic. Start date is negotiable either summer of 2024 or Fall 2024. Charleston Southern: Charleston Southern University Strength and Conditioning is seeking passionate and motivated interns for the Summer 2024 program. This is a volunteer, unpaid position which provides valuable experience with Division 1 sports in the Big South Conference. In addition, interns will be involved in various administrative duties, equipment set up, and participation in a comprehensive strength and conditioning curriculum. Preferred requirements: Seeking degree in exercise science related field; Pursuing or have Accredited Certification (CSCS/SCCC); CPR/AED/First Aid certified.
