Portland State: Portland State University is looking for qualified applicants for full time internship positions during the summer 2016 terms. June 20th thru Sep 2. This is an UNPAID VOLUNTEER internship working primarily with the football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball programs. Responsibilities include coaching proper technique, motivating the athletes through off-season weight lifting and conditioning activities, maintenance and cleanliness of the new Viking Pavilion weight room, as well as anything else the director of strength and conditioning coach needs assistance with. The applicant will receive valuable experience at the division I level as well as knowledge that will serve them in the field. Requirements: Must be able to work long hours & weekends when necessary as well as any extra time that is needed to complete tasks; a high level of energy and enthusiasm for the profession, a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education (or related field) or in final semester, a valid CPR/First Aid certification, and a desire to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. Preferred: A Strength and Conditioning or Weightlifting certification (or working toward obtaining a certification). Cumberland University (TN): Cumberland University Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting two (2) volunteer unpaid strength and conditioning intern positions for the Fall 2016 semester. Qualifications: Completed or working towards Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field; current CPR/AED certification; desire to pursue career as a strength and conditioning coach; strong work ethic; punctual. Preferred: Currently possess or working toward CSCS or SCCC certification; previous internship/coaching experience; ability to work with Microsoft Office programs. Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to: Assisting strength coaches with the implementation and supervision of strength and conditioning/sports performance programs for Football and Olympic sports, daily weight room maintenance and upkeep, and any other duties assigned by the head strength and conditioning coach. Interns will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field as well as fulfill school internship hours if necessary.
