Santa Clara: Santa Clara University Sports Performance is currently seeking applicants for 4 volunteer UNPAID Sports Performance internship for the Spring Semester 2020. This is a special opportunity, as interns will have the opportunity to earn a PAID Assistant Position on the Sports Performance Staff. The successful candidate will also be responsible for overseeing 1-2 sports under the direction of the full-time staff, set up and break down for daily training, routine maintenance, cleaning of the weight room and completion of the internship curriculum. Candidates will also assist with the training of Men's and Women's Basketball as well as other sports assigned by the Assistant AD for Sports Performance and the Director of Sports Performance. Compensation will include Nike Gear as well as learning from a CSCCa approved mentor. Qualifications: Currently pursuing Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Exercise Science or related field and a strong desire to become a Collegiate/Professional Strength & Conditioning Coach. Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a collegiate athlete and currently pursuing or possessing SCCC, USAW, NSCA, or CSCS certification(s). This is a non-paid volunteer position; it may fulfill course credit if necessary. Application requirements: Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. Arizona: The University of Arizona Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting 6 applications for Volunteer Interns for the Spring of 2020. This internship will begin January, 2020 and will conclude at the end of May 2020 with opportunity to stay through the summer. This is an unpaid position. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for the University of Arizona Football, set up and break down for daily training, routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facilities, and completion of the internship curriculum. Required qualifications include a strong work ethic, completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional in the collegiate or professional setting. All applicants should have, or be working towards an accredited certification (CSCS or SCCC). Other preferred qualifications include previous coaching in a collegiate setting and personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport. Applications will be taken until the positions are filled. Gallaudet University (D-III – Washington, DC): Gallaudet University is seeking a well-qualified intern for the 2020 spring semester. Gallaudet University is the premier institute of higher learning for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The successful applicants will gain hands-on experience working with all 14 NCAA Division III varsity sports. It is the goal of Gallaudet University staff to provide interns with a well-rounded experience incorporating all facets of strength and conditioning. Interns who are entering into the internship program will assist the strength coaches with all sports and implement the strength, power, speed, agility, conditioning, movement assessment, and corrective exercise programs. In addition, interns will be taught the fundamentals of yearly planning and program design. An emphasis will be placed upon the professional development of each intern in an effort to prepare them for a career as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have or be working towards the completion of a degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education or another related field. Interns with either collegiate athletic or coaching experience are preferred but not required. A strong work ethic and willingness to work extended hours are a must. In order to apply, each candidate must be First Aid and CPR/AED certified and either working towards or already certified strength coach. Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is preferred. If the successful candidate has no prior knowledge, it will be expected that the intern is willing to learn. Interested applicants shall submit a cover letter, resume, and two references. Weber State: Weber State University, a Division I university member of the Big Sky Conference, is actively seeking applicants for the UNPAID internship program the WINTER/SPRING of 2020. The internship program will run from JANUARY 6 TH thru APRIL 30 th . Interns will gain practical experience working in a Strength and Conditioning Setting. Over the course of the semester interns can expect to work early morning, late afternoon, or weekend hours. As an intern you can expect to assist with all team training sessions. Gain valuable knowledge and experience via, exercise selection/progression/regression, facility management, and professional development assignments. The goal of the internship program is to develop the skills and coaching experience that prepare successful interns for graduate assistant positions at the conclusion of their time in the program. Requirements: Graduate, or Undergraduate students working towards a degree in exercise science or related field. A strong desire to become a Strength and Conditioning Professional at the Collegiate Level, ability to maintain a flexible and demanding schedule, effective communication and leadership skills in a group setting. Compensation: Academic credit and professional experience only, this is an unpaid internship. Youngstown State: The Youngstown State University Football and Olympic Strength and Conditioning Staff is currently seeking 1-2 highly motivated intern candidates for the Spring of 2020. The successful candidate will be both hard working and posse a willingness to learn. While the position is UNPAID, the candidate will be compensated through high amounts of hands on experience at the Division I level with both Football and Olympic sports. Interns will have the ability to apply internship hours towards undergraduate and graduate programs. The candidates will also have an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in both on the floor coaching, and programing. Candidates have an opportunity to earn professional recommendations for future ventures. The start date for these positions will be January 2020 and the candidate will have time for work opportunities outside of the internship. Requirements: candidate must be CPR/AED certified; completed or currently enrolled in degree in exercise science or a related field; and currently holding or working towards a professional certification such as the NSCA CSCS; or CSCCa.
