College of William and Mary: The College of William and Mary, located in Williamsburg Virginia, is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill Spring (January-April) 2017 Strength and Conditioning internship positions. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I Collegiate Strength and Conditioning setting. Responsibilities will include: assisting with supervision and administration of strength training and speed programs for various sports, daily maintenance of the training facilities and professional development throughout the internship program. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in the exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, a desire to become a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach and pursuing CSCCA, USAW or NSCA certification(s). This is a voluntary position. This is an unpaid internship. Housing will not be provided. Local applicants are encouraged to apply. Gardner-Webb (NC): The Gardner-Webb University Athletic Performance Department is accepting applications for the position of Graduate Assistant (GA). Gardner-Webb University is a private, Christian, Baptist-related university in Boiling Springs, NC home to 22 NCAA Division I Athletics Programs. This position includes a monthly stipend & full tuition remission. The position is subject to a university background check. Intended start date is January 2017. Due to program requirements and admissions, Graduate School & classes will not begin until August 2017 (MUST be able to be accepted into a Graduate Program to continue on with the GA position), but the monthly stipend will begin immediately in January 2017. Successful applicants should have the ability to excel within a collaborative team environment; strong work ethic; effective communication skills; & desire to further one’s career in the field of Athletic Performance/Strength & Conditioning while having a strong commitment to Christian higher education. Responsibilities: Assisting in all aspects of the Gardner-Webb Athletic Performance program, design and implementation of sport specific training programs for 3-4 assigned sports teams; ability to effectively teach and execute proper technique of lifts and drills; supervision of team workouts; assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the Athletic Performance Facility & compliance with all appropriate university, Big South Conference, and NCAA Rules/Regulations. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required as well as working toward or already obtained a certification from an accredited strength and conditioning organization (NSCA, USAW, CSCCa, etc.). Possess CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Experience working in a NCAA 4- year college or university weight room with a variety of teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs & Athletic Performance/Strength & Conditioning related technology is encouraged. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs for various sports, attending to daily maintenance of the training facilities, and professional development throughout internship program. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, a strong desire to become a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach and pursuing CSCCA, USAW, or NSCA certification(s). Compensation: This is a non-paid volunteer position. You will gain experience as well as the opportunity to learn and grow in the field of Strength & Conditioning.
