Central Arkansas: The Strength & Conditioning staff at the University of Central Arkansas is now accepting applications for its 2015 Summer Internship Program. This is an unpaid position. No monetary compensation will be provided. However, the position offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength & conditioning, as well as the fulfillment of credit hours towards a degree program. Candidates interested in this position should be hardworking, passionate, and detail orientated individuals, who have the desire to work in the strength & conditioning field at the collegiate level. Applicants should hold a BA/BS in Exercise Science or a Health Related field or in their Senior year. They should be working toward certification as a SCCC through the CSCCa, or a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA. Responsibilities will include: Daily clean up and maintenance of the facility and all its equipment. Setup and break down of weight room and field for all athletic workouts, and supervision of training sessions. This program will also consist of weekly educational projects and reports. Cal: The University of California Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for a Volunteer Intern for the Summer of 2015. The internship begins May 25th and ends July 31. This is an unpaid position, however, the position offers the opportunity for advancement in the field of strength and conditioning through earned future recommendation, along with coaching apparel and the opportunity to eat at daily team meals. The intern that is selected will also accumulate internship hours toward CSCCa Certification under a certified mentor. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision of the Cal Football team, set up and breakdown for daily strength and conditioning activities, routine maintenance, cleaning and organization of the training facility, filming and inputting data, as well as the opportunity to gain hands on coaching experience by assisting with the strength and conditioning program for Olympic sports of the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach's choosing. Prerequisites include completion of a Bachelors’ Degree, working toward NSCA or CSCCA certification, along with, preferably, collegiate athletic playing experience. Bradley: The Bradley University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking a highly motivated, dedicated professional for the position of Assistant Sport Performance Coach. This is a 12-month, part-time, entry level position. A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree preferred. One to three years of strength and conditioning experience in a collegiate environment is also preferred. The successful candidate must possess significant expertise within the strength and conditioning field; excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; the ability to motivate student-athletes and work cooperatively with coaches and the sport medicine staff; a commitment to excellence and value of education; familiarity and comfort working in an environment with a strong academic commitment; and sensitivity to cultural differences. Proficiency with computer applications, general office software and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required. Certification by CSCS, USAW and/or CSCCa needs to be actively pursued if not already obtained. CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire.
