Father Ryan High School (TN): Father Ryan High School is seeking motivated applicants for fitness and strength intern positions for the Spring and Summer semesters. Father Ryan is located in Nashville, TN and is a Division II AA member of the TSSAA. The Fitness and Strength Intern must have a commitment to the mission of the school, the community and the student-athletes. This is an unpaid position, but compensation will be provided in the form of credit hours to a program degree. Daily activities include, but are not limited to, assisting the Director of Fitness and Strength, assisting with supervision of workouts, maintenance of the fitness center, program development and professional development through the intern program. Applicants should have a great attitude and desire to learn more about the strength and conditioning profession. Merrimack College (MA): Merrimack College is seeking applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Intern in the Department of Athletics for the Spring 2013 semester. Merrimack is a Catholic Institution with more than 2,000 students, and is a member of NCAA Division I Hockey East and also of the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 conference. Responsibilities for the position will entail assisting in implementation of all aspects of Strength and Conditioning programs for all 22 intercollegiate sports. Responsibilities will include: apply, demonstrate, and instruct exercise, speed and conditioning technique, program design, performance testing, and weight room maintenance. Candidates are required to be working toward a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field, also pursuing relevant certifications, and have a strong desire to pursue a career in Strength and Conditioning. Applications will be accepted year round to fill internship positions for each of the semesters and also the summer. Yale: Yale University is looking for highly motivated strength and conditioning interns for the Spring 2013 semester. Interns receive exposure to 35 Division I varsity sports and over 800 student athletes. Their role will progress from observation to hands on interaction dependent upon weekly evaluations from the Yale University Strength and Conditioning staff. Our training philosophy at Yale is simple: Train to Prevent; Train to Improve; Train to Win! Under this philosophy, our goal is to assist each student athlete in reaching his/her maximal potential as a player. Applicants must be enrolled in graduate or undergraduate program related to strength and conditioning, as well as, be working towards CSCS, SCCC or USAW certifications.
