Maryland: The University of Maryland Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning Staff is seeking highly motivated, hardworking candidates for a strength and conditioning internship opportunity for the fall 2012 semester. Duties will include assisting the strength and conditioning staff with all aspects of the athletic performance program as well as daily maintenance of weight room and facilities. Candidates must have a strong work ethic and have a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Candidates who will be receiving course credit will be given preference. This is an unpaid position, living and transportation arrangements will not be provided. If chosen for this internship opportunity you will receive division 1 experience at a major university in an elite conference, you will be educated on training philosophy, olympic lifting modalities, and how to structure and execute a successful strength and conditioning program. Preferred qualifications; Candidates should have or be working towards attaining their bachelor’s degree, and one of the following certifications; CSCS, SCCC, or USAW. Frostburg State: Frostburg State University, Athletics Department, is accepting applications for a full-time Fitness / Strength & Conditioning Intern. This is a full-time 40 hr per week, one year internship which is renewable for an additional year based on performance. Hourly rate $10.33 with limited benefits included. RESPONSIBILITIES: Fitness & Weight Room facility management; develop the physical strength, endurance, flexibility and agility of athletes; program design customized to each sport’s specific needs; provide direct instruction to student-athletes, as well as provide assessment and feedback, in order to assure proper execution of training techniques. Document athletes’ workouts; provide and assist in the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries; advises on prevention and care of athletic injuries; other administrative duties as assigned by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. MINIMUM QUALIFICTIONS: Master’s Degree. National Strength and Conditioning Association – CSCS Certification. Previous experience in the strength and conditioning or fitness field. OTHER: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year for year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. Western Carolina: WCU is currently seeking a qualified individual for its 2012-2013 strength and conditioning internship. This position runs from August 1, 2012 to May 31, 2013. Pay is not to exceed $15,000.00 over the 10 month period. Hourly work week is not to exceed 40 hours per week. Required qualifications: Include a current CSCS certification from the NSCA and a minimum of six months job experience in a college athletic strength and conditioning setting. CPR and AED certification is required. Preferred qualifications: Include a USA Weightlifting certification, a CSCCa certification, and more than one year experience in a college athletic strength and conditioning setting. Internship duties: In charge of all strength and conditioning duties for Men’s and Women’s Golf, Women’s tennis, and Cheerleading. Assist in all strength and conditioning duties for Football, Men’s basketball, Women’s basketball, and Baseball, other duties will include but not limited to general equipment upkeep, weight room sanitation, computer work, game day responsibilities, and assisting in the supplementation program. Baylor: Baylor University Department of Athletic Performance is accepting applications for the Fall 2012 Athletic Performance Internship Program. This is an unpaid position. Intern responsibilities include: Assisting with the supervision of training programs; Assisting with daily administrative and maintenance items; Completion of various educational assignments during the internship. Intern qualifications include: Punctuality; Enthusiasm; Strong work ethic; Ability to volunteer a minimum of 40 hours per week. Preferred qualifications include: Senior status or completion of a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field; CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification; CPR certification. Interns will receive experience working in a Big 12 training environment, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable. Mercer: We hear Wofford College assistant Jon Mangel will become Mercer's head strength & conditioning coach for football. We believe this is the first time Mercer has had such a position.
LSU: Sources tell us former North Texas assistant strength coach Ricky Lefebvre will join the LSU staff as an assistant.
