University of Memphis: Strength and Conditioning Department is in search of aspiring strength professionals to fill two (2) Paid Summer Internship positions. The role works primarily with the Tiger Football team throughout the summer while assisting with any other teams per the request of the Director of Strength and Conditioning. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assist Strength and Conditioning Staff in all facets of implementation of weight training programs, aid in the instruction of safe and proper weight training techniques, maintain team and individual records, assist in the regular maintenance and upkeep of the facility, motivate both small and large groups of student-athletes, and have a passion for the strength and conditioning field. The prospective worker will gain valuable collegiate level work experience and exposure through various training modalities centered around vertical integration, Bod Pod assessment, Polar Team2 Heart Rate System usage, orthopedic assessment, and sport massage. At conclusion of the Summer Internship, there will be a potential opportunity to stay on the staff as a Graduate Assistant working primarily with Olympic athletic teams as well as assisting with the Football team beginning in the Fall 2011 school year. Advancement is based on performance and compatibility within the Tiger Strength department as well as acceptance in the GraduateSchool at the University. Interested individuals with a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science or related field, previous experience working in team setting weight training, current or working towards certification with the NSCA, USAW, or CSCCa, and current CPR/AED First Aid Certification.
