Mississippi: The University of Mississippi Department of Strength and Conditioning (Olympic Sports) is accepting applications for 1 paid Athletic Intern. The Athletic Intern responsibilities include: Design and implement training protocols for designated teams; Ability to work, write, speak and communicate effectively with staff, administrators and sport coaches; Ability to teach and execute proper technique of lifts and drills; Coordinate, evaluate, compile and communicate performance targets; Delegation of daily administrative and maintenance items to volunteer interns; Completion of various educational assignments during the assistantship. Athletic Intern requirements include: Bachelor’s degree preferably in an Exercise Science or related field; Experience in an NCAA four-year college or university weight room working with a variety of teams; Possession of the following personality traits: strong work ethic, punctuality, enthusiasm. Athletic Intern preferred qualifications include: CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification and background as a competitive collegiate athlete. UAB: University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) is accepting applications for an immediately opening Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Intern for Football. Applicant will serve the football program as a volunteer coach. Daily responsibilities will include assisting with supervision and implementation of all aspects of the strength and conditioning program for football. Intern qualifications include: Bachelor’s Degree, Hardworking, Desire to learn, Enthusiasm, Coachable and have the Ability to finance an unpaid intern position. Preferred qualifications include: Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field; Eligible to sit for the CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification; CPR certification. This internship is expected to begin as soon as the position is filled. Prior to starting the internship, successful candidates must be willing to complete a liability waiver and with the potential of undergoing a background check per UAB. Midwestern State (D-II - TX): Midwestern State University Strength and Conditioning program is seeking highly motivated, hardworking candidates for VOLUNTEER strength and conditioning interns for the FALL 2014 semester. Responsibilities include: assisting with the supervision and training of Midwestern State University’s 12 Division II intercollegiate athletic programs; assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties; completion of various educational assignments during the internship are required. Qualifications: strong work ethic, punctuality, enthusiasm, desire to further one’s career in the field of strength and conditioning. Preferred qualifications: pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in exercise physiology or related field, NSCA-CSCS or USAW certifications, CPR certification. One year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletics experience is preferred. Having a background in performing and coaching Olympic lifts is preferred. Compensation: this is an UNPAID position, but offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours towards a degree program. Loras (D-III - IA): Loras College is seeking qualified applicants for a 2014-2015 intern position within the Strength & Conditioning Program. This is an unpaid position that runs from August 2014-May 2015. This position would be in control of programming and leading workouts for a select number of our teams; assisting with football strength & conditioning; assisting with rehab assignments; and assisting with day-to-day operational work in running the Fitness Center. Candidates for this position must be enrolled in or have graduated from an exercise science or related program, and must have current CPR/AED certification. Pursuit or attainment of CSCS or SCCC is not required, but recommended. South Florida: WKU assistant strength coach Joey Carnes has been hired as an assistant strength coach with the Bulls.

Langston University: Sam Chatman has been hired as the head strength and conditioning coach.

Wake Forest: Wake Forest University is accepting applications for volunteer intern coach to contribute to the Football Sports Performance Program for the Fall 2014 semester. Qualified candidates will serve the football program as a non-counted coach that will have the opportunity to assist in all training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules. The successful candidate must display a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. The anticipated start date will be September 2014.
