Pittsburg State (D-II - KS): Pittsburg State University is seeking a committed and enthusiastic individual to join the Strength & Conditioning staff as a Graduate Assistant. The individual must have a desire to learn and a passion to pursue a career in strength & conditioning. Responsibilities: Oversee and administer strength and conditioning programs for assigned sport, provide detailed programs for assigned sports, assist in teaching and monitoring athletes. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science; CSCC and/ or CSCS certifications; current CPR/AED certification. Compensation: The selected candidate is not guaranteed tuition assistance as that is decided on a case-by-case basis by the Director of Athletics. However, all non-teaching graduate assistants pay in-state tuition rates. The graduate assistance stipend is paid hourly on a bi-weekly basis and usually totals $9,000-$12,000 per year depending on hourly pay rate and total hours worked. DePaul: DePaul is seeking an assistant director of sports performance. Columbia: Columbia University Strength and Conditioning is looking for qualified applicants for a volunteer internship position for fall 2014. This is an unpaid position. The Volunteer will however receive invaluable experience working solely with the football team. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: set up,break down of weight room and field for all activities. Cleaning and daily maintenance of the weight room and equipment as well as supervision and interaction with team during lifts and runs. The applicant must be motivated, vocal communicator with ability to think on their feet. Have a desire to learn and to move on to be an asst strength coach. Must also possess or be eliigible to sit for the CSCS, SCCC or USAW and be in a Bachelors degree program in a related field. You must be CPR/AED certified. UC San Diego: The University of California, San Diego is seeking 4 qualified applicants for the position of Professional Intern in the Department of Strength and Conditioning. Start date is August 25, 2014. Duties: Regular duties include overall athletic development and strength & conditioning of the 23 varsity teams, assisting the director in implementing year round training programs for the student-athletes on each team based on the physiological needs of that sport as well as establishing a positive rapport with the student-athletes and coaching staff’s while establishing themselves as a coaching figure and conducting themselves accordingly. Qualifications: Potential interns should be able to demonstrate a wide variety of exercises including Olympic lifting techniques, and one to two years' experience coaching free weight exercise. Former collegiate athlete experience preferred. Should possess First Aid and CPR certifications, be an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist or studying for it and a Bachelor’s degree or completing requirements to attain degree. Due to the nature of the duties as they relate to working with student–athletes a background check is required prior to the start of the internship.
