Western Carolina: Western Carolina is currently seeking 4 qualified individuals for its Fall 2013 Athletic Performance internship positions. These are unpaid positions, however applicants will be given necessary time to seek employment elsewhere to help with expenses. You will report directly to our Internship Coordinator and will be responsible for any duties assigned by the Director of Athletic Performance, and/or the Assistant Director of Athletic Performance. Other duties will include general equipment upkeep, assisting groups, weight room sanitation, computer work, game day responsibilities, and assisting in the supplementation program. Applicant requirements are as follows: must have or be working on the completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree with a concentration in Exercise Science/Nutrition or a related field, and a current CPR/AED certification. Certifications from the NSCA, NASM, and/or USAW are preferred. Applicants will need strong communication skills, strong work ethic, and extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications. Applicants must be in compliance with Western Carolina, the Southern Conference and the NCAA. Midwestern State (D-II - TX): Midwestern State University Strength & Conditioning program (Division II) located in Wichita Falls, Texas is currently in the process of accepting applications for (3) Strength & Conditioning Graduate Assistants for fall 2013 semester. Responsibilities will include but not limited to assisting the Director of Strength & Conditioning in all aspects of developing and implementing strength & conditioning programs for 12 intercollegiate athletic teams. Candidate will be asked to design and implement annual periodization for the sports assigned by Director of Strength & Conditioning. Assist with and conduct periodic performance and strength testing, and assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with preferred emphasis in the exercise sciences, and extensive knowledge of Olympic lifts. Must have great work ethic, and strong computer skills especially in excel. Preferred experience (1-2 years) includes coaching strength and conditioning for intercollegiate athletes, playing intercollegiate athletics. CSCS, CSCCA, and USAW certification is also preferred. Must have CPR certification. Educational stipend and financial compensation will be provided.
