Tennessee: Strength coachDave Lawson is no longer working with the football team, but is still serving overseeing the entire athletic department, per Jimmy Hyams. We can confirm the news. Associate strength coach Mike Szerszen is now handling the daily football workouts.

The Citadel: The Citadel is currently accepting applications for three VOLUNTEER Strength & Conditioning (S&C) internship positions. The internship will last from June 1 – July 29. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division I S&C environment under the guidance of an approved CSCCa mentor. Minimum requirements include CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; an unwavering work ethic, a desire to become an industry professional, the ability to adjust to a demanding work schedule, and effective communication and leadership skills in a group setting. Other preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body, (NSCA, ACSM, USAW, CSCCa, etc.), previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with computer productivity applications. Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, daily, weekly, and semester long professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the S&C staff. Carolina Panthers: The Panthers are no longer accepting applicants for their open strength position. Thank you for the overwhelming interest in the position.

Appalachian State: Appalachian State University is accepting applications for Summer 2016 Strength and Conditioning Internships working with specifically FOOTBALL. These are UNPAID internships. These positions will run from late-May through the end of July. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division 1 Sun Belt Conference S&C environment. There will be opportunities to work with Olympic Sports. Applicants must be highly self-motivated, able to follow directions, possess excellent communication skills, have a desire to learn, and have an extremely strong work ethic. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/AED/First Aid, adapt to demanding schedule, and a strong desire to become a Strength and Conditioning Coach. At the end of the semester long internship volunteers will have a better understanding of program design, have the potential to earn recommendations for future opportunities, and if applicable receive college credit. Eastern Michigan: Eastern Michigan University Sports Performance is looking for qualified strength and conditioning interns for the Summer 2016 semester. The internship will begin Monday May 2nd and will end on Friday June 29th 2016. Preferred qualifications: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in exercise physiology or related field; working towards NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa, USAW certifications; CPR certification. One year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletics experience. Compensation: This is a non-paid position. Those accepted into the program will receive Coach McKeefery’s nationally recognized internship curriculum, practical strength and conditioning experience, and career mentorship. Hours completed can be applied toward undergraduate/graduate internship requirements and/or the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association certification practicum requirement.
