Wichita State University: invites applications for a graduate assistant opportunity with the Strength and Conditioning Department from August 1, 2011 through the month of May, 2012. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning and the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Duties include: Design, implementation and supervision of strength, speed, and conditioning programs for Men’s and Women’s Track and Field; assisting with the development and implementation of strength training programs for 11 teams; assisting with the creation and direction of sport-specific speed, quickness and agility workouts; assisting sport coaches with recruiting; assisting with the hiring and supervising of student interns; weight room supervision; weight room upkeep; equipment maintenance, and other duties as assigned. Successful applicants should have prior strength and conditioning experience and a desire to continue in the field of strength and conditioning for enhanced sport performance. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field. At least two years of experience coaching in a collegiate strength and conditioning program, Adult CPR certification and certified in one of the following organizations: National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS) or Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC). The Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach must be enrolled or accepted in the graduate school at Wichita State University. The position is a 10-month position (August 1-May 31) that provides continuing educational credits and a financial stipend.
