Southeastern Louisiana: Southeastern Louisiana University Sport Performance Department is accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Intern for the Summer and Fall semesters. The program is designed for undergraduate students and the post bachelor professional looking for experience. The intern education program will help educate the intern in such fields as: Coaching techniques, programing, history of sport performance, scientific application to sport performance, speed, strength and quickness training, movement screens, and soft tissue techniques and an introduction to sport nutrition. There will be a potential GA position for a qualified intern who does completes the internship at a high level and has a good academic standing. Qualifications: Must have a strong work-ethic and have a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Ideal candidates will have a bachelors degree and working towards a certification from one, or more, of the following. (CSCS, SCCC, USAW) No monetary compensation will be provided. Prairie View A&M: Prairie View A&M University is accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Assistants Summer 2012 and for the 2012-2013 school year. Responsibilities include: assisting with the supervision and training of PVAMU’s 18 Division I intercollegiate athletic programs; assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties; completion of various educational assignments during the internship are required. Qualifications include: Ability to follow directions; strong work ethic; punctuality; enthusiasm; strong desire to further one’s career in the field of Strength & Conditioning. Preferred qualifications include: college playing experience, pursuing Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field, CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certifications; CPR and First Aid certification and/or coaching experience. Individuals chosen for the position are subject to college/university background checks. This is a 12 week internship for the summer and a 10 Month position for the school year (2012-2013). Volunteer Assistants will receive experience working at a Division I program, better understand program design, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable.
