Houston: Houston Cougar Sports Performance is accepting applications for the Fall 2012 Sports Performance Internship Program. This is an unpaid position. Intern responsibilities include: Assisting with the supervision of training programs; Assisting with daily administrative and maintenance items; Completion of various educational assignments during the internship. Preferred qualifications include: Senior status or completion of a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field; CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification; CPR certification. Interns will receive experience working in a Division I training environment, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable. Rhode Island: The University of Rhode Island Strength and Conditioning program is seeking highly motivated, hardworking candidates for strength and conditioning interns for the fall 2012 semester. Responsibilities include: assisting with the supervision and training of the University of Rhode Island 13 Division I intercollegiate athletic programs; assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties; completion of educational assignments during the internship are required. Preferred qualifications: pursuing Bachelors or Masters Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field; NSCA-CSCS or CSCCa-SCCC; CPR certification. One year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletics experience. Compensation: This is a non-paid position, but offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours towards a degree program.
