Montana: The University of Montana is currently accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant position in its Strength and Conditioning program for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the strength and conditioning coaches with the design and implementation of sport-specific strength, speed, and agility programs; weight room supervision; daily upkeep and maintenance of equipment; they will be assigned their own sports and any other duties as assigned. The Graduate Assistant position is a two-year assignment beginning with the 2012-13 academic. This is an educational position. As such, the successful candidate must continue to make academic progress to graduate in the 2 year term. This may include academic checks with faculty during the course of the 2 years. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a related field and acceptance into a University of Montana graduate program. Preferred qualifications: Internship experience with a collegiate program; CSCS and USAW certifications. Females and minorities are encouraged to apply. SMU: (Spring internship needed immediately) Assist the Southern Methodist University, Sports Performance staff in the day-to-day operations in the weight room. Duties will include but are not limited to; assist the sports performance staff in the implementation of strength and conditioning programs for 16 varsity sports, instruction of safe and proper execution of all facets of athletic development, and assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Spring interns will work primarily with Football, Men’s and Women’s soccer, swimming, tennis, volleyball, and equestrian. Qualifications: Must have or be pursuing a Bachelors in exercise science or a related field. Experience in a collegiate setting, and a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level. Person must be able to have good computer skills. Upon successful completion of this internship, one should possess and demonstrates the required abilities to advance in the field of Strength and Conditioning.
