South Dakota: The University of South Dakota’s Strength and Conditioning Department is looking for a motivated individual who are interested in an internship for the summer of 2012. Qualifications: All applicants must have a background in Exercise Science, Sport Science, Kinesiology or related field. Applicants must also be in pursuit of obtaining a CSCS, USAW, or PES certification as well as being CPR certified. Individuals who apply should be highly motivated, have strong work ethic, be punctual, and have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning coach. Duties: Duties will include aiding the strength and conditioning staff with assessments of student athletes, sitting in on meetings when designing programs, implementation of programs, performing proper lifting techniques, motivating athletes, and general maintenance and cleaning of the strength and conditioning facility. Compensation: This is an unpaid position; however, the possibility exists for class credit toward graduation from current institution, athletic apparel when available, and potential to earn future recommendations and employment. Villanova: Villanova University is currently accepting applications for volunteer strength and conditioning interns for Summer 2012. Daily responsibilities include but not limited to; assisting with the set up and break down of weight room and football field for conditioning workouts; daily clean up and maintenance of the weight room and all of its equipment; assist with supervision and demonstration during the training sessions. Applicants must be highly self motivated, able to follow directions, desire to learn, and have a strong work ethic. Applicant should be eligible to sit for the NSCA-CSCS, CSCCA, or USAW; CPR and First Aid Certification. This is an unpaid position, however volunteers will receive experience working at a Division I program, better understand program design, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable.
