Sugar Bowl Snapshots: Pics to click from Notre Dame's historic win over Georgia (Sugar Bowl)

NEW ORLEANS -- Winning its biggest bowl game in more than three decades and two College Football Playoff games for the first time in program history, Notre Dame punctuated a poignant week in New Orleans with its 23-10 smothering of Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs.

FootballScoop had photographer Chris Spognardi, a longtime college football operations director who now owns and operates Sunset Photography in Pensacola, Florida, on hand to capture the scenes from Thursday night's clash, the last of the College Football Playoff's four quarterfinals matchups.

The game, delayed a day due to a terror attack on Bourbon Street in the city's fabled French Quarter, was a tense, boxing match until Notre Dame scored 10 points inside the final minute of the first half and returned the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown that netted a 20-3 lead.

The Fighting Irish prevailed, 23-10, their second win this season in as many tries against an SEC team after having opened their season with a 23-13 win at Texas A&M, and secured a berth in the CFP Semifinals at the Orange Bowl next week opposite Penn State.
