After receiving details on an extension and raise for Steve Sarkisian and a handful of other assistants last month, thanks to Joe Cook of Inside Texas we now have contract details for the rest of Sark's returning staff, including key off-field staffers.
The headliner in this batch of contracts is head strength coach Torre Becton. The reigning FootballScoop Strength Coach of the Year, Becton's handiwork was on display this weekend as Texas sent 14 players to the NFL combine, a year after producing 11 draft picks. Furthermore, four Longhorn wideouts have run 4.4 40-yard dashes the past two combines, and a Texas wide receiver has run the fasts 40 of any player for two years running.
According to documents obtained by Inside Texas, Becton signed a 3-year deal starting at $700,000 with $50,000 annual raises in late January but, after receiving NFL interest, Texas bumped Becton's 2025 salary to $850,000 with $25,000 annual raises.
Elsewhere, general manager Brandon Harris signed a 2-year contract in January that pays him $600,000 a year.
On the field, co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee signed a 2-year extension at $700,000 a year. Defensive line coach Kenny Baker signed an identical contract five days after Milwee.
Wide receivers coach Chris Jackson will coach the 2025 season on the final year of a 3-year contract that pays him $650,000.
Special teams coordinator, assistant head coach and tight ends coach Jeff Banks ($1.2 million in 2025) and co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Johnny Nansen ($1.1 million) were part of the batch of extensions revealed last month. Coordinators Pete Kwiatkowski ($1.9 million) and Kyle Flood ($1.4 million) received multi-year extensions following the 2023 campaign and are under contract through the 2026 season.
Contracts for new hires Chad Scott (running backs), Mark Orphey (cornerbacks) and Duane Akina (safeties) have yet been approved. With those contracts still outstanding, Texas is already on the hook for $19.9 million to pay its on-field and senior off-field staff for the 2025 season.
