The highest-paid defensive backs coaches in college football: 2024 edition (Highestpaid2024)

Defensive backs coaches have more responsibility than ever, which means they're wearing more hats than they ever have and getting paid more than they ever have.

In an age where base defense places five defensive backs on the field, DBs have blitz, play the run and the pass, cover tight ends, backs, slots and wideouts -- sometimes all on the same play.

As a result, it's now more common than not for FBS teams to employ two defensive backs coaches, and more common than not for one of those coaches to carry a title beyond cornerbacks and/or safeties coach. And they're paid accordingly.

At least 34 secondary coaches are earning north of half a million dollars a year, and most of those are a co-coordinator, a passing game coordinator, or an assistant head coach, if not a coordinator altogether.

As always, salaries are based on open records, media reports and, when applicable, the USA Today coaching salary database.
