Utah State: Utah State is shutting down its search and all signs point to Gary Andersen returning as head coach, tweets Pete Thamel. FootballScoop first reported on Andersen’s likely return on Sunday.
Ellsworth CC (JC – IA): Per source, head coach Tony Haynes plans to step down. His first season as the head coach, Haynes led the program to a 1-10 mark. Prior to becoming the head coach at Ellsworth, Haynes was the offensive coordinator at Coffeyville CC (JC – KS).
Murray State (FCS – KY): Head coach Mitch Stewart has received a three-year contract extension. Stewart led the program to a 5-6 finish this fall, including a 5-3 mark in the OVC.
North Park (D-III – Chicago, IL): Sources tell FootballScoop that head coach Mike Conway has decided to step down and will become defensive coordinator at Lindenwood-Belleville (NAIA – IL). Conway, the 2013 CCIW Coach of the Year, previously spent 11 seasons as the defensive coordinator at California University of Pennsylvania (D-II). In his six years at North Park, Conway won more conference games than the program had won in the league in over three decades.
Lehigh (FCS – PA): Andy Coen has retired after 13 seasons as head coach, sources tell FootballScoop. Lehigh will conduct an open search, which will not occur before the early signing period.
Kansas: Luke Meadows, who previously coached the offensive line at Eastern Michigan, has been hired to coach the offensive line for Les Miles.
Aurora (D-III – IL): Don Beebe has announced his staff. Beebe will serve as offensive coordinator and the rest of his staff will consist of Nathan Bell (Co-DC / LBs), Brent Harner (DBs / STC), Mike Tosaw (OL), Tyler Wellman (TEs), Jeremiah Chaney (Co-DC / DL), Anthony Maddie (QBs), Joe Thorgesen (RBs), Troy Sheppard (WRs), and Chad Trudo (strength and conditioning).
UCF: UCF has extended Josh Heupel’s contract through 2024, the school has announced. Financial terms were not disclosed. Heupel is 12-0 with an American title & a Feista Bowl appearance in his first season as the Knights’ head coach. Update: Heupel’s salary moves from $1.7 million to $2.3 million, according to Christian Bruey of WFTV in Orlando.
Ohio State: Gene Smith told Eleven Warriors he was considering two college coaches and one NFL coach before having a “come to Jesus” moment in determining Ryan Day would succeed Urban Meyer.
Savannah State (FCS – GA): Erik Raeburn will not return as head coach, according to Frank Sulkowski of WJCL. The program finished this season 2-8 in Raeburn’s third season. Before taking the Savannah State job, Raeburn led the Wabash (D-III – IN) program for eight seasons, compiling a record of 78-13 including five trips to the Division III Playoffs.
Boise State: Boise State has an opening for an assistant to the head coach. This is a full-time 12 month position working directly with coach Harsin. Interested candidates can apply via this link.
Lawrence Tech (NAIA – MI): Lawrence Tech University is seeking a graduate assistant, best candidate available, strong consideration given to those that have played or coached at the college level. Responsibilities include assisting in practice preparation, game day duties, film-HUDL, equipment, recruiting and other duties as assigned by the head coach and defensive coordinator. Bachelor’s degree is required. Coaching and playing experience preferred. Compensation is Housing, meals and tuition. Carroll (NAIA – MT): Troy Purcell has been hired as the program’s new head coach. Purcell is a former player for the program and joined the Idaho staff inn 2016 as linebackers coach before moving to tight ends in 2017. Heading into this fall, he added special teams coordinator duties.
Kansas State: With Seth Littrell out of the mix, sources say K-State AD Gene Taylor is zeroing in on a familiar name to be Bill Snyder’s replacement.
ECU: A number of James Madison (FCS – VA) assistants are joining Mike Houston at ECU, per a report from The Daily News-Record including running backs coach De’Rail Sims, wide receivers coach Drew Dudzik, inside receivers / tight ends coach Fontel Mines, defensive line coach Jeff Hanson, special teams coordinator Roy Tesh, strength coach John Williams, and DFO Dale Steele.
Louisburg (JC – NC): Louisburg College, a private junior college located outside Raleigh, North Carolina, has an opening for an assistant coach that will also serve as the head strength coach. This is a 10 month position that will begin in January, compensation is 5K, room, board, and full benefits. Please email resume and references to Head Coach Trevor Highfield at [email protected]. Charleston Southern (FCS – SC): Head coach Mark Tucker has resigned after two seasons and an 11-11 mark. Tucker previously served as the program’s quarterbacks coach from 2013-16.
Northern Arizona: Multiple reports, including the Arizona Daily Sun, share that Boise State wide receivers coach Eric Kiesau is no longer in consideration for the NAU head coaching job.
Temple: The program has announced the departure of Geoff Collins for Georgia Tech, and adds that assistant head coach / special teams coordinator / tight ends coach Ed Foley will serve as the interim head coach in the Independence Bowl.
Louisville: As we reported Wednesday evening, Bruce Feldman tweeted this morning that App State defensive coordinator Bryan Brown will be the new defensive coordinator on Scott Satterfield’s staff.
Kansas State: Seth Littrell has pulled out of the K-State search and will remain at North Texas, tweets Brett McMurphy. FootballScoop can confirm.
Tennessee: Houston offensive coordinator Kendal Briles is “one of the leading candidates” for the Vols’ offensive coordinator job, according to GoVols247 and the Houston Chronicle added that Briles is a candidate at Tennessee and Florida State. Briles recently agreed to terms on a 3-year, $2.1 million contract to remain at Houston after he was a candidate for the Texas State head job.
Howard (FCS – DC): Per source, Michigan defensive analyst Elijah Sandweiss will join Ron Prince’s staff.
Liberty: Source with direct knowledge tell FootballScoop that Hugh Freeze will be the next head coach at Liberty.
Georgia Tech: Geoff Collins will be named head coach at Georgia Tech today, per report.
Saint Vincent (D-III – PA): Saint Vincent College seeks a Special Teams Coordinator. This coach will be responsible for coaching their position, film-breakdown (HUDL), scouting reports, recruiting, and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach. Applicants should submit a cover letter and resume to [email protected]. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Computer and Hudl proficiency also preferred. Prior coaching or playing experience at college or high school level is desired.
Franklin (D-III – IN): Per source, Franklin has promoted from within to fill their open coordinator positions. Ryan McElwain will become the Defensive Coordinator. Dom Centofanti will be the Offensive Coordinator. John Werbe gets promoted to full-time and will coach the skill positions on offense. Me’Leick Miles also gets promoted to full-time and will be the Special Teams Coordinator. Logan Hale will be the defensive intern, and head coach Mike Leonard will once again take over coaching the QBs.
Independence CC (JC – KS): Junior Tanuvasa has been hired as linebackers coach and special teams coordinator, per source. Junior previously was at Dixie State (D-II) and Mt. Sac CC (JC – CA).
Ron Prince: Sources told us yesterday that Ron Prince has landed a head coaching job again.
Saint Vincent (D-III – PA): Saint Vincent College seeks an Offensive Coordinator.
