Miami (OH): Chuck Martin has announced Doug Shearer as his special teams coordinator. Shearer has spent the last five seasons at NC State, most recently as special teams quality control.
Maryland: Jon Hoke has been announced as defensive coordinator / safeties, Joker Phillips as co-offensive coordinator / wide receivers coach, Brian Williams as outside linebackers, and Delbert Cowsette as defensive line coach. Tulsa: Luke Olson, who spent the past four season in a defensive quality control role, has been promoted to a full-time coaching position working with the nickels.
Northern Illinois: Derrick Jackson, who spent the past two seasons at Purdue coaching the corners and serving as defensive recruiting coordinator, has joined the NIU staff as defensive coordinator / safeties coach and will also have the title of associate head coach. Jackson previously coached at NIU in 2005, working with the defensive tackles.
Wyoming: Jay Niemann has been announced as the team’s new linebackers coach. Niemann most recently served as the defensive coordinator at Rutgers from 2016-18 and prior to that coached the safeties and served as defensive coordinator at Northern Illinois for five seasons.
Ottawa (NAIA – AZ): Ottawa University Arizona has multiple immediate openings for both offensive and defensive graduate assistant football coaches starting in spring 2019. College coaching and recruiting experience is preferred. Applicants must be accepted into the graduate program with a 3.0 GPA. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, equipment organization, practice planning, coaching a position group, leading meetings, film break down, player evaluation and recruiting, promotion and marketing of the program, and assisting in general day to day football operations. This position pays full tuition as well as a healthy stipend. Cincinnati Bengals: The team has announced the additions of Jemal Singleton (RBs), Joey Boese (strength and conditioning), and Doug Rosfeld (director of coaching operations).
Southwest Oklahoma State (D-II): In addition to Jake Warehime joining the staff as offensive line coach, as we shared previously, John Boogaard and Sean Wilkerson are also joining the staff. Boogaard is a recent graduate of Rocky Mountain College (NAIA – MT) and will coach the tight ends, while Wilkerson joins the staff from Middle Georgia State (NAIA) and will work with the outside linebackers.
West Virginia: Sources tell FootballScoop Neal Brown is completing his staff by hiring an FBS offensive coordinator to join his staff. Update >> The school has now announced the hire.
Nebraska: The school has announced one-year extensions for all of the assistant coaches and head strength and conditioning coach Zach Duval, meaning all of the coaches are now under contract through December 31, 2020. The Journal Star points out that the financial terms of the assistants deals remains the same for each coach.
St. Ambrose (NAIA – IA): St Ambrose University is seeking a graduate assistant to serve as Defensive Position Coach. The position will include a monthly stipend and tuition. We are looking for applicants that have a passion for coaching and the energy to perform all the duties associated with being a full time coach. Candidates with previous coaching or playing or experience on the Defensive side is a plus. Louisiana Monroe: Florida recruiting specialist Joe Fitzgerald has been hired to coach the team’s wide receivers. Fitzgerald previously spent three seasons as a defensive graduate assistant at Florida Atlantic and from there joined Dan Mullen’s Mississippi State staff as an offensive graduate assistant. He’s also coached tight ends at Eastern Kentucky (FCS), and wide receivers coach at UVA-Wise (D-II).
New York Giants: The team has announced the additions of Mike Dawson (OLBs) and Henry Baker (assistant DBs). Dawson, who was on the Eagles staff from 2013-15, coached the defensive line at Nebraska last season, and Baker had joined the Rutgers staff as corners coach and passing game coordinator back in early January and coached the corners on the UNC staff prior to that.
St. Ambrose (NAIA – IA): St Ambrose University is seeking a graduate assistant to work with Strength and Speed development while also coaching an on-field position. All on field positions will be considered. The position will include a monthly stipend and tuition. We are looking for applicants that have a passion for coaching and the energy to perform all the duties associated with being a full time coach. Candidates with either a CSCS certification or working towards certification will be given first consideration. LA Rams: Wes Phillips, the son of defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, is the new tight ends coach, per Alex Marvez.
Kentucky State (D-II): Per source, Philander Smith College (NAIA – Little Rock, AR) athletic director Nathan Cochran is leaving his post to join Charlie Jackson’s staff at Kentucky State. Before getting into administration, Cochran coached at Paine College, and Lincoln University.
Howard (FCS – Washington, DC): Shepherd University (D-II – WV) defensive line coach Sam Daniels has joined the staff as defensive line coach.
Cincinnati Bengals: Raiders running backs coach Jemal Singleton is joining the Bengals staff, per multiple reports. FootballScoop can confirm the move.
North Texas: UNT will hire Eastern Washington offensive coordinator Bodie Reeder as its new offensive coordinator while also promoting Tommy Mainord to co-offensive coordinator, sources tell FootballScoop. Details here.
New Orleans Saints: The Saints have now formally announced the addition of Darren Rizzi as their special teams coordinator. Rizzi spent the last few seasons with the Dolphins in the same capacity.
Toledo: The Rockets are no longer accepting applicants for their wide receiver graduate assistant job. Thanks for the overwhelming interest.

Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals have formally requested permission to interview Florida defensive coordinator Todd Grantham for their defensive coordinator job, per The Athletic.
High School Football: Risk of serious injury has never been lower in the history of high school football, per report.
Louisiana Tech: Per BleedTechBlue, offensive coordinator Todd Fitch will move from wide receivers to quarterbacks. He steps in for Tim Rattay, who accepted the quarterbacks job with the Redskins.
Michigan: Source tells FootballScoop that Ferris State (D-II – MI) offensive coordinator / tight ends / running backs coach Steve Casula has joined the Michigan staff in an analyst role. Ferris State played in the Division II national title game this past season, and prior to joining that staff, Casula coached at Davenport (D-II – MI) as offensive coordinator as well as interim head coach, and served assistant coaching stints at Colgate (FC – NY), Western Michigan, and Delaware (FCS).
Memphis: The contract extension that was announced for Mike Norvell last week does not include a change to his salary ($2.6 million annually) or his buyout ($500k), according to a report from the Commercial Appeal.
Atlanta Falcons: Former Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton has joined the Falcons as a senior assistant, the team has announced.
Michigan: Pat Perles has joined the staff as an analyst / assistant offensive line coach, Field Yates tweets. Perles is a coaching veteran with stops around the NFL and with Syracuse, Michigan State, North Dakota State, and also spent a number of years in the CFL.
Purdue: For signing a recruiting class in the top 25, head coach Jeff Brohm is due a bonus of $45,000, per USA Today. Brohm’s contract states that if he signs a class ranked in the top 25 by ESPN, Rivals, or 247 that he is due the bonus and the Boilermakers class was ranked 25th by both ESPN and 247.
Southwest Minnesota (D-II): Southwest Minnesota State University is looking for a defensive graduate assistant (any position). Qualifications include acceptance into graduate school (3.0 minimum GPA). Compensation package includes a $2,000 stipend during spring football, which will turn into an $8,000/year and full-tuition waiver during the 2019-20 school year. Dakota Wesleyan (NAIA – SD): Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, SD is seeking a graduate assistant to coach the defensive line. The goal is to fill this position before spring football March 14th. This position is an entry-level position. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist the head coach with all aspects of the football program, full-time recruiting area, academic monitoring responsibilities, special teams assignment, assisting with community service and fundraising, along with other duties as assigned. This position will help develop defensive schemes, conduct defensive line meetings for installing of scheme, practice film review, and game film review. This position requires passing a background check and acceptance into the Master of Arts in Education program. The successful candidate will receive a 2/3 tuition waiver, $1,500 stipend for 10 months, and a meal plan. Housing is not included. Experience playing or coaching DL is going to be a deciding factor in determining the successful candidate for this position.
