Tennessee: There is a buzz in coaching circles that Dave Doeren has been offered the Tennessee job. We’ve heard it; but at this time have not confirmed it. However, multiple reports have emerged out of Raleigh late tonight that Doeren has been offered the position & is likely to decide Thursday.
Montana (FCS): Bobby Hauck is back as head coach of the Griz reports SkylineSports. The former Montana head coach, who currently serves as special teams coordinator at San Diego State, is expected to be formally announced Friday per the report which notes Hauck’s contract is pending Board approval. Shaun Rainey, sports director at ABC / Fox Montana confirms the news; however, AD Kent Haslam says “no final decision has been made“.
Arizona State: Arizona State is expected to name Herm Edwards their new head coach “as early as next week” according to multiple reports out of Arizona. Edwards is hoping to keep most of the current staff. Read more details on the news here.
Bethel (NAIA – TN): Head coach Chris Elliott has been relieved of his duties the school has announced. Elliott led the team to a 3-7 mark this past season and spent 6 seasons leading the program.
Oregon State: Washington offensive coordinator Jonathan Smith has agreed to a deal to make him the Beavers’ coach, tweets The Oregonian’s John Canzano. Sources tell us the same. More on the hire here. Update: The school has announced the hire.
Muskingum (D-III – OH): Head coach Al Logan has decided to step down to pursue other opportunities, the school has announced. Logan has led the Muskingum program for 11 seasons, being named OAC Coach of the Year in 2009. Muskingum finished the 2017 season at 2-8.
Tennessee: In the latest installment …. sources tell FootballScoop Tennessee is pivoting to Dave Doeren when Jeff Brohm says no.
Shorter (D-II – GA): Per source, the school has parted ways with head coach Aaron Kelton. Shorter went 0-11 this season.
Wilmington (D-III – OH): Per source, first-year head coach Bryan Moore has made a number of moves on his staff. Moore will take over the special teams coordinator responsibilities, offensive line coach Matt Byrne is being promoted to offensive coordinator, and Hayden Thomas will now serve as the DFO. Josh Runda has been hired from the University of Indianapolis (D-II – IN), where he coached the “Sam” linebackers, to serve as defensive pass game coordinator and linebackers coach, and former interim head coach / special teams coordinator and strength coordinator Brad Watkins will not be retained.
Tennessee: ESPN’s Chris Low tweets no deal is in place between Tennessee and Jeff Brohm “and not close to being done at this point, although there have been discussions.”
Jeff Brohm: A 2018 Purdue commit who Jeff Brohm visited today says Brohm told him today he is not leaving for Tennessee. This search….
Southeastern Oklahoma State (D-II): Southeastern Oklahoma State University is accepting applications for an offensive graduate assistant. This position includes 15hrs tuition and a 7K stipend. Responsibilities include practice/game preparation, recruiting, equipment, video, and other duties assigned by the head coach or offensive coordinator. Experience playing and/or coaching offense is preferred. Position will start in the Spring semester of 2018. Lindsey Wilson (NAIA – KY): Lindsey Wilson College is accepting applications for a full-time assistant coach. This position will likely be coaching running backs and involve equipment coordinator duties. This is a 12-month, full-time position with benefits. Oregon: Oregon has offered Willie Taggart a new, five year deal worth slightly over $20 million reports Andy Staples. Oregon is to avoid potentially losing Taggart to Florida State… Staples report does not say whether Taggart plans to accept Oregon’s offer or not. Florida State clearly could offer significantly more than $4 million per year if they so choose.
Louisburg College (JC – NC): Louisburg College, a private junior college located outside Raleigh, NC has an opening for an assistant coaching position on the defensive side of the ball. Tennessee: This morning sources told FootballScoop Tennessee’s search is centering on Jeff Brohm. Subsequently, ESPN, Yahoo, local reports etc have all reported the same. All of that could be spot on; but Jeff Brohm is out on the road recruiting today and a Purdue spokesman says there has been no contact today. Stay tuned… And right on cue, Jimmy Hyams up in Knoxville tweets, “Tennessee will soon announce the hiring of Jeff Brohm…”
Kentucky: Matt House will return as defensive coordinator, according to Joe Mussatto of SEC Country. Additionally, Mussatto reports Kentucky intends to use its 10th assistant coaching spot on the defensive side of the ball.
Texas A&M: Update on Texas A&M’s pursuit of Jimbo Fisher…and the dominoes that (could) fall from there.
Toledo: Head coach Jason Candle will make a $20,000 bonus after being named MAC Coach of the Year, Steve Berkowitz tweets.
Tennessee: Sources tell FootballScoop Tennessee’s search is now centering on Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm.
Mississippi State: Joe Moorhead has been officially announced as head coach of the program. Moorhead’s introductory presser will take place Thursday at 11am EST.
Tennessee: SMU head coach Chad Morris interviewed with the Vols last night, per a tweet from Jimmy Hyams.
Florida State: The Seminoles have started to do background work on Oregon head coach Willie Taggart in the event that Jimbo Fisher takes the head coaching job at Texas A&M, Dan Wolken tweets.
Mississippi State: Last night, news broke that Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead will be the new head coach of the Bulldogs.
Oklahoma State: Mike Gundy decided last night to stay in Stillwater after meeting with Tennessee. Scroll down to last night’s updates to see more.
Dodge City CC (JC – KS): Dodge City Community College, a member of the Jayhawk Conference, has an immediate opening for a WR Coach. This is a full time position with duties that include any and all responsibilities associated with coaching a position at a nationally competitive junior college football program. Our last 2 WR coaches accepted jobs at FCS and D2 programs. Position includes a competitive salary and benefits. Air Force Prep: The US Air Force Academy Preparatory School is still accepting applications for an offensive coaching position. Applications will need to be mailed in by Monday, December 4th. AF Prep is located on base at the Air Force Academy and plays a JUCO schedule. A minimum of high school coaching experience is required, but college experience is preferred. Applicants may be required to teach a class in English, Science, or Math during the spring quarters. As a result, applicants must have a bachelor’s in one of those disciplines and 3 years of teaching experience or a master’s in a field related to one of those disciplines.
