Los Angeles Rams: The Rams are hiring Brandon Staley as defensive coordinator Albert Breer is reporting. Staley won the 2016 Division III Coordinator of the Year award! Staley coached outside linebackers for the Denver Broncos this season.
West Virginia: As we reported earlier today, WVU has now named Gerad Parker offensive coordinator. With the move Matt Moore’s title has been adjusted to assistant head coach / offensive line (he previously had co-offensive coordinator title). WVU has also now confirmed the hire of Jeff Koonz.
Houston: Mark Scott has been named special teams coordinator. He replaces FootballScoop Special Teams Coordinator of the Year Blake Gideon, who left for Ole Miss. Scott was a special teams analyst for the Cougs in 2019.
Cleveland Browns: No decision is expected today on the NFL’s final head coaching opening, per Ian Rapoport. Josh McDaniels interviewed earlier today.
Appalachian State: James Rowe has joined the staff as cornerbacks coach.
Kansas: Emmett Jones has been promoted to passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach, and his contract has been extended through Feb. 2022. He had been rumored for the wide receivers job at Texas.
St. Francis (NAIA – IL): University of St. Francis is looking for two intern positions; best position fit. These are VOLUNTEER POSITIONS. This is a great opportunity for growth in the profession and in the program. Position could transition into a future GA position. Angelo State (D-II – TX): Angelo State is looking for a game this season (2020) Week 4, Sept 26. Preferably a home game and can offer a guarantee. Willing to travel if that is our only option. Please contact Head Coach Jeff Girsch at [email protected] if interested.
Middle Georgia (NAIA): Middle Georgia State University is a NAIA school that competes in the NCFA football league. We are looking for a guarantee NAIA or D-III away game for the 2020 Season. Please contact Coach Hall by email at [email protected].
Lenoir-Rhyne (D-II – NC): Mike Jacobs has hired the following coaches — Jahmal Brown (defensive coordinator/linebackers), Anthony Soto (offensive coordinator/offensive line), Shawn Chaffee (defensive line/recruiting coordinator), Devin Figaro (wide receivers), Tony Baldesare (special teams coordinator/tight ends).
Fresno State: So….Mike McHugh is back. McHugh, had left just a few weeks ago to join Marcus Arroyo’s staff at UNLV; but now he’s back. It’s complicated. Just know, he’s back. This marks McHugh’s third time starting up at Fresno after having spent a decade at Cal from 2003-2012.
West Virginia: Source tells FootballScoop Neal Brown is targeting former Ole Miss linebackers coach Jeff Koonz for the linebackers role at WVU. Koonz spent the 2019 season at Ole Miss, 2017-18 at North Texas, 2014-16 at Cincinnati and the 2010-13 seasons at Louisiana Tech.
Missouri: Mississippi State offensive line coach Marcus Johnson has been hired in the same role at Missouri.
West Virginia: Sources tell FootballScoop Penn State receivers coach / pass game coordinator Gerad Parker plans to join the West Virginia staff. Since the 2011 season Parker has coached at Marshall, Purdue, Cincinnati, Duke and Penn State. Parker is expected to receive the offensive coordinator title we hear.
Napier Family: Billy’s brother Matt has accepted the head coaching position at LaGrange HS (GA).
Oklahoma State: Washington Redskins quarterbacks coach Tim Rattay is joining the Oklahoma State staff in the same capacity. Rattay previously coached quarterbacks (and / or receivers) at Louisiana Tech from 2013-18.
Cal: Source tells FootballScoop Justin Wilcox is expected to offer his offensive line job to Nevada assistant head coach / offensive line Angus McClure. In addition to this stint at Nevada, McClure has previously coached offensive line at UCLA, Buffalo, Nebraska and Sacramento State.
San Diego State: For a few days we’ve been mentioning that Brady Hoke was planning significant change at SDSU. Now the San Diego Union Tribune is reporting tight ends coach Ron Caragher, safeties coach Richard Sanchez and assistant AD for football operations Jashon Sykes all will not continue with the staff. They add that offensive coordinator Jeff Horton will no longer coordinate the offense; but is currently slated to remain on staff coaching running backs.
USF: FAU safeties coach Wes Neighbors has now formally been announced as safeties coach at USF.
TCU: Sources tell FootballScoop Gary Patterson is planning to hire Colorado State running backs coach / recruiting coordinator Bryan Applewhite. At TCU, sources tell us App will coach running backs.
Texas: Former Rutgers corners coach Jay Valai will join the Texas staff (with Chris Ash) in the same role Adam Rittenberg has tweeted.

Arizona: Andy Buh is joining the staff as outside linebackers coach.
Iowa State: Source tells FootballScoop Pitt head strength coach Dave Andrews has accepted a similar position at Iowa State.
Boston College: Former New Mexico offensive coordinator Joe Dailey will be BC’s receivers coach, according to The Athletic.
Notre Dame: Sources tell FootballScoop Notre Dame director of football operations Jason Michelson has accepted a position outside of football. Michelson, we are told, was presented with a great opportunity to help manage a company’s growth from regional to national. Our understanding is the position at Notre Dame is open and Brian Kelly is likely to consider candidates over the next month.
Buffalo Bills: Former Panthers defensive coordinator Eric Washington has joined the staff as defensive line coach.
New Mexico: UNM has formally announced the hirings of Derek Warehime (offensive coordinator), David Howes (linebackers), Troy Reffett (safeties) and Jason Lenzmeier (offensive line). Saga Tuitele will be retained as an offensive assistant.
Carolina Panthers: Sources tell FootballScoop Matt Rhule is interested in Joe Brady for his offensive coordinator position. More here…
Texas: Jason Washington will not return as cornerbacks coach, tweets Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods, who adds Rutgers corners coach Jay Valai is the leading candidate to replace him.
Washington: John Donovan will be Jimmy Lake’s offensive coordinator at Washington. Donovan, who has been on the Jaguars’ staff the past four seasons, previously served as offensive coordinator for James Franklin at Vanderbilt and Penn State.

Arkansas: Ryan Yurachek, son of Hogs AD Hunter Yurachek, has retired from the NFL and joined Sam Pittman’s staff as an offensive GA.
Ohio State: The Buckeyes have formally announced Corey Dennis’s promotion to quarterbacks coach.
South Carolina: Marcus Lattimore is stepping down as director of player development and will be replaced by former quarterback Connor Shaw reports David Cloninger.
Texas State: Brian Hamilton has now officially been named tight ends coach for Jake Spavital’s staff.
Indiana: In addition to moving Nick Sheridan to offensive coordinator, Tom Allen has promoted running backs coach Mike Hart to associate head coach and added the co-coordinator title to receivers coach Grant Heard.
Mississippi State: Mike Leach’s deal is four years (maximum allowed under state law) at $5 million annually per multiple reports.
New York Giants: The Giants gave new head coach Joe Judge a 5-year deal, according to multiple reports this morning.
Cleveland Browns: The last scheduled head coaching interview for the Browns is set to take place today with Josh McDaniels.
Kentucky Wesleyan College (D-II – KY): Kentucky Wesleyan College Football is looking for a 2020 Week 10 (11/7/2020) home game, willing to discuss away opportunities. Preferably a FCS,NCAA DII or NAIA opponent. Please contact Tyrone Young at [email protected] if interested.
Indiana Wesleyan (NAIA): Indiana Wesleyan is in need of a home game in 2020 on August 29th, September 5th or September 19th. Willing to pay a guarantee if needed to secure a game. Please email Head Coach Jordan Langs at [email protected] if interested.
