Former FAMU player, head coach and athletic director Ken Riley has passed away at age 72. Riley led the FAMU program from 1986-93 where he went 48-39-2 with two MEAC titles and later served as athletic director from 1993-2004. He was voted into the FAMU athletics Hall of Fame in 1977 and Black College Football Hall of Fame in 2015.

Clemson: Dabo Swinney has led Clemson’s rise by being relentlessly positive and unfailingly optimistic. Monday night found him in an unfamiliar position: on the defensive, as he released a 14-minute video responding to rumors, allegations and accusations.

NCAA: The NCAA is reportedly close to approving a return-to-play schedule that would see some teams begin mandatory workouts as soon as July 6.

Buffalo: Long-time Old Dominion quarterbacks coach Ron Whitcomb has joined the UB staff as offensive analyst / scouting coordinator.

Bowling Green: Bowling Green is currently seeking an unpaid volunteer position to work with special teams. This position does not include benefits and would  also help out on defense within NCAA limitations. Monroe College (JC – NY): Monroe College Football program is looking to fill two openings on their staff, they are Linebacker and Defensive Backs.  The compensation for each position is with a seasonal stipend.  The candidates need to live in the Tri-States or greater New York Metropolitan.  There is no housing provided.  College coaching experience is a plus.   Monroe College is a member of the Northeast Football Conference and is located in New Rochelle, NY.  Potential candidates should provide a resume with references and cover letter addressed to Head Coach Terry Karg via email at: [email protected]. Kansas: Senior special teams consultant Devin Ducote has accepted the defensive coordinator position at West Feliciana HS (LA).

Siena Heights University (NAIA – MI):  Siena Heights is seeking qualified applicants for a graduate assistant opening. The position will work on defensive side of the ball, experience working with the defensive line is preferred.  Duties will include coaching a position, recruiting a specific area, academic monitoring, administrative duties, extensive video breakdown of games and practices, opponent scout as well as some equipment and laundry duties. Additional duties may be assigned by the head coach, defensive coordinator or the director of athletics. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree, a valid driver’s license, and playing experience/coaching experience at the collegiate level. Strong communication skills and ability to recruit high academic and quality student-athletes is a must. Experience with hudl digital editing system is a must. Compensation includes a salary of $6,000 and full tuition remission. Positions are contingent upon admittance into Siena Heights University Graduate School. Alderson Broaddus (D-II – WV): Alderson Broaddus has had their application for full membership into the Mountain East unanimously approved and the Battlers will compete in the Mountain East starting this upcoming season.

National Football Foundation: The NFF has announced it will change the name of its Football Matters campaign out of respect for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Redlands (D-III – CA): Head coach Mike Maynard has been placed on administrative leave because of a social media post that has “been causing distress in our community,” athletic director Jeff Martinez announced. More here.

Mercyhurst (D-II – PA): Mercyhurst has an immediate opening for a 12-Month restricted earnings running backs or defensive skill assistant coaching position. The successful candidate will coach his own position, run positional meetings, assist with special teams, contribute to the weekly game plan and have his own recruiting area. Computer Skills (Microsoft Office & Visio) & Video Breakdown (Experience using HUDL and DVSport is preferred) is a MUST. Qualifications include: Bachelor’s Degree, college coaching and/or playing experience. Compensation package includes $12k-$14k and some meals. No housing or benefits. Iowa: Iowa placed director of strength and conditioning Chris Doyle on administrative leave over the weekend. On Sunday, the country’s highest paid strength coach shared a statement on the allegations against him.

Fort Scott CC (JC – KS): Fort Scott seeks qualified applicants for a part-time, entry-level Assistant Coach. Candidates must have an established track record of Character and Athletic development. Along with established reputations for loyalty and trustworthiness, candidates must show at least two years of coaching experience or comparable playing experience as well as a proven ability to contribute in recruiting. Candidates must have obtained at minimum an undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year institution. The position must work to realize the vision of Fort Scott football and adhere to all program values. The position will assist with the defense. For the right candidate, this position will be responsible for running or assisting with a position group and managing his or her own recruiting area. This position reports directly to the Defensive Coordinator under the supervision and discretion of the head football coach. Even as a Defensive Assistant role, the best overall person, coach, and recruiter will be selected – even with a different background. Coaches with offensive backgrounds are encouraged to apply. This is a month-to-month stipend position with on-campus living and additional income opportunities through other roles. Fort Scott is a centrally-located, national-recruiting two-year college with advanced-transfer-track degree programs. Fort Scott is a member of the highly competitive KJCCC. Utah: Defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley has been suspended for a 2013 text.

Briar Cliff (NAIA – IA): Briar Cliff University is looking to fill a Defensive Graduate Assistant (Linebackers) position beginning July 2020. Job requirements for the available position are as follows: film breakdown, practice organization, game day preparation, recruiting area, student athlete development, and other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach. This is a 10 month contact which includes full tuition, $500 stipend per month, on campus housing ($150 per month without utilities) and free meal plan. The minimum qualifications are a bachelor’s degree and at least a 2.8 GPA or higher. All interested applicants should email Titus Brothers-Defensive Coordinator, at [email protected].
