Let us know what you hear. Since 1999, all sources remain confidential. Mail@FootballScoop.com or call / text 225.229.3429

Tulane: Multiple sources have told us, over the past two days, Tulane has spoken with Rutgers offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti, Sam Houston head coach Willie Fritz, a Big Ten offensive coordinator and a Sun Belt head coach. As crazy as this might sound, we happen to think the Tulane job will turn into a great job over the next few years. Hard to understand what is going on in NOLA.

Vanderbilt: James Franklin has received a new contract with additional years and "significant additional compensation" according to Vandy Vice Chancellor David Williams.

Fort Scott CC: We hear former Highland CC receivers coach Moses Harper has been hired as receivers coach at Fort Scott.

Kevin Sumlin: Multiple reports out there that Arizona State has waived the white flag with regards to the pursuit of Kevin Sumlin. He's got one more game to coach tomorrow for the Cougars; but we have been told his agent is already practicing saying, "gig 'em".

Coaches of the Year: The remaining finalists will be announced tomorrow.

Colby College (D-III - ME): We have been told that long time head coach Ed Mestieri has resigned.

UCF: Drew Hughes has been hired as director of player personnel. Sean Beckton will now coach the receivers. Open spots at UCF include defensive coordinator, linebackers and secondary.

Mike Haywood: We hear that Mike is evaluating some very good offers. He'll have a good home.

Under the radar: Yes, we realize that the Texas defensive coordinator is never really under the radar; but Manny Diaz is certainly a guy to keep an eye on. The search firms love the guy. Another name is Northwestern's offensive coordinator Mick McCall.

Western Carolina: A name we keep hearing in connection with this one is Jamey Chadwell, head coach at D-II North Greenville. North Greenville plays Delta State tomorrow in the D-II quarterfinals. We hear a number of other athletic directors at the D-II and FCS level are interested in speaking with Chadwell as well.

Kentucky: Co-defensive coordinator Steve Brown will not return. We are told more to come in time.

Kentucky: Things are happening at Kentucky. Details coming...

Vanderbilt: The University has just announced that they "torn up James Franklin's contract" and entered into a new contract with extended years and a "substantial" increase in compensation. They also are announcing significant upgrades and renovations to their stadium, football facilities and the addition of an indoor practice facility to occur over the next few years.

Tulane: Just when you thought the ending to the book couldn't take any more turns, there is now a report that Trooper Taylor was interviewed.

Nebraska: We didn't even call to check on this one; but we're pretty sure there is plenty of interest in the Nebraska opening with Carl heading to FAU. Could a Stoops being joining the Big Red?

Colorado State: Sources tell us head coach Steve Fairchild and new athletic director Jack Graham are driving to the Wyoming border together today to discuss the status of the program (and to get the ceremonial game ball) for this weekend's game. We are told, Graham will make the decision on whether to retain Fairchild after their game this weekend.

Tennessee: Sources close to the situation tell us that Larry Porter will not be joining the Vols staff.

Houston: Sources tell us Joe DeForest (Oklahoma State's special teams coordinator) is a name that the Houston administration would be supportive of.

Arizona: The Arizona Board of Regents has approved Rich Rodriguez's contract as we previously reported. The pool for the assistants is $2 million.

Loras College (DIII - IA): Loras College is located in Dubuque, Iowa and is looking for a full time assistant with experience on the offensive side of the ball. If interested send letter of application, resume with references to paul.mierkiewicz@loras.edu. Please no phone calls.

Northwestern State (FCS): We are told that the offensive line and receivers jobs are open.

University of Pikeville (NAIA - KY): We hear defensive backs coach David Jones has stepped down and will become the head track coach at Pikeville.

UCLA: Sources tell us Chris Petersen has told UCLA he is not interested.

UAB: Birmingham News is reporting that Curtis Looper and Paul Petrino have interviewed and that the committee plans to speak with Garrick McGee and Turner Gill today.

Coaches of the Year: We will be rolling out a number of Finalists throughout the day. Stay tuned.
