California: Cal released the following statement on Sonny Dykes, "We are still in the process of negotiating an extension with Coach Dykes. He is our head football coach and we want him to continue in this capacity."

BYU: Bronco Mendenhall will coach the Cougars in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 19.

Jacksonville University (FCS): Per source, Ian Shields will be the next head coach at JU. Shields resigned from Lenoir-Rhyne (D-II - NC) last night.

Missouri: Andy Hill will stay on board as part of Barry Odom's staff, according to Dave Matter.

Montana State: Sources tell FootballScoop that Jeff Choate will be the new head coach at Montana State. Choate coached the defensive line and coordinated the special teams at Washington the past two seasons.

Washington: Wide receivers coach Brent Pease's contract will not be renewed, the program has announced.

LSU: LSU AD Joe Alleva confirmed to The Advocate's Ross Dellenger, on the record, that he "made inquiries" regarding new head coaching candidates prior to their decision to abort the plan to fire Les. Alleva added that he and Les have agreed that offensive changes need to be made; but Alleva says he won't dictate personnel changes, "I would never tell a coach who their assistant coach is".

Shorter University (D-II - GA): Head coach Phil Jones announced his retirement today.

Virginia: BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall has been announced as the new head coach at UVA.

Iowa State: Greg Babenac has been named DFO. More details on DFO Scoop.

UCF: Missouri State (FCS) offensive coordinator Mario Verduzco is heading to UCF to join Scott Frost's staff, sources tell FootballScoop. We understand he will coach the quarterbacks. Verduzco and Frost were on the same staff at Northern Iowa a few years ago.

Missouri: Corners coach Cornell Ford will remain on staff, per Gabe DeArmond.

Heidelberg (D-III - OH): Following the departure of head coach Mike Hallett to Toledo (see below), defensive coordinatorScott Donaldson has been named head coach. Donaldson has led the defense the past five seasons and has spent over a decade on the Heidelberg staff.

Coastal Carolina (FCS): Per source, defensive coordinator Clayton Carlin will not return.

Toledo: Heidelberg (D-III - OH) head coach Mike Hallett will be joining Jason Candle's staff at Toledo. Heidelberg has announced the move.

Iowa State: Toledo defensive line coach Eli Rasheed is joining Matt Campbell's staff, per SI. Rasheed had coached the Rockets defensive line since 2009.

Missouri: Barry Odom will retain safeties coach Ryan Walters and potentially quarterbacks coach Andy Hill (who is a strong candidate at Montana State, per sources) as well, per Gabe DeArmond of PowerMizzou.com. DeArmond is reporting the rest of the full time assistants are not expected to be offered positions. Will update...

Central Florida: Northeastern Oklahoma (JC) head coach Ryan Held has accepted a position on Scott Frost's staff. Held played his college ball at Nebraska from 1992-1996.

Houston: Tom Herman has signed his new contract this morning, according to Travis Haney. The new contract includes a bump in salary to $2.8 million (almost twice what he made this past season), and includes another $200,000 to go toward his assistant salary pool, per SI. Update>> Houston has now announced it, and Herman is now signed through February 28th, 2021. The announcement also notes that the "amendment shifts the initial contract’s buyout of $2.25 million end date from Feb. 28, 2018 to Feb. 28, 2019, with an increased buyout of $2.5 million for prior to Feb. 28, 2017." The buyout is gradually reduced if plans for the new football facility are not engaged.

Missouri: Sources tell FootballScoop that Barry Odom is considering bringing Josh Heupel on board as offensive coordinator. Heupel, who is currently the offensive coordinator at Utah State, is the former offensive coordinator at Oklahoma.

Miami: The 'Canes have now officially announced the hiring of Mark Richt as the new head coach. His official presser has been set for 10am ET today.

Michigan: Director of player personnel Chris Partridge has been added to the coaching staff for bowl season and will coach the team's linebackers. Partridge is the former head coach at Paramus Catholic HS (NJ).

Southwest Minnesota State (D-II): Southwest Minnesota State University is looking for an offensive graduate assistant (tight ends). Qualifications include acceptance into graduate school (3.0 minimum GPA), enrolled in a minimum of six credits per semester, and meet the MnSCU vehicle driving qualifications. Compensation package includes $8,000 and Full-Tuition waiver. Review of candidates will begin immediately and continue until filled. Must be able start by January 5th. Coastal Carolina (FCS): Head coach Joe Moglia told Myrtle Beach Online that while he's "priveledged and honored to be the head coach of the Chanticleers, he would seriously consider a "special opportunity" and has received some calls to gauge his interest from other programs recently.
