Miami Dolphins: Adam Schefter is reporting the Dolphins plan to make Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin their head coach.

Penn State: Sources telling us that South Carolina head strength coach Craig Fitzgerald will take the same position at Penn State.
Wisconsin: Tom Mulhern of the Wisconsin State Journal is reporting that former Ole Miss offensive line coach Mike Markuson will be the Badgers next offensive line coach.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Mike Mularkey has hired four assistants. John Bonamego will serve as special teams coordinator, Sylvester Croom will have the running backs coach, Bobby Johnson will coach the tight ends, and Jerry Sullivan will coach the receivers.
Iowa State: We hear that Central Missouri grad assistant Kevin Bleil has taken the offensive grad assistant job with the Cyclones.
Ron Zook: Ron has come out and said "Taking a year off from coaching is probably the direction I'm headed".
East Carolina: Former Texas Tech offensive lineman Shawn Byrnes has been brought on staff to serve as the offensive graduate assistant.
South Dakota School of Mines: New head coach Stacy Collins has hired Eastern Oregon offensive coordinator Zach Tinker as OC.
Indiana: Kevin Wilson has hired Jon Fabris to serve as defensive ends coach. Fabris coached at Georgia from '01-'09. Fabris was on staff at Northwest Mississippi CC this past year.
Maryville (D-III - TN): We have learned that Mike Rader will be named the new head coach at Maryville. Rader is the receivers coach at Huntingdon College.
Southwestern University (D-III - TX): We hear Southwestern is down to their final 4 candidates. We hear they are Depauw defensive coordinator / defensive backs coach Scott Srnka, a D-III head coach from Indiana, a small college offensive coordinator in Kentucky, and a head coach from a Division III school located in Minnesota.
Tennessee: The Vols have hired John Palermo to coach the defensive line. Palermo most recently served as the defensive line coach at Middle Tennessee State.
Eastern Kentucky: We hear that Josh Beekman has been hired as the offensive GA at EKU. Beekman played at Boston College and spent some time with the Chicago Bears as well.
Carthage (D-III - WI): Carthage College defensive line coach Mike DuFrane has left to become the new head coach at Racine Case high school (WI).
Nebraska: Pay day. John Papuchis' new salary (promoted to DC) is $300,000, up from $200,000 last season. Offensive coordinator Tim Beck's compensation rises to $365,000 from $345,000. New defensive line coach Rick Kaczenski will make $195,000. Running backs coach Ron Brown and offensive line coach Barney Cotton will each make $240,000 (up from $220,000 last season). Ross Els, linebackers / special teams, is going from $170,000 to $220,000. Receivers coach Rich Fisher is going from $160,000 to $180,000 and assistant offensive line coach John Garrison will make $160,000 (up from $140,000). Defensive backs coach Corey Raymond will make $200,000. Bo Pelini's salary rises to $2.875 million from $2.775 last season.
Ohio University: Sources close to the program tell us to look for former New Mexico State defensive line coach Jessie Williams to join the staff soon.
Hamilton (CFL): Casey Creehan (linebackers coach for Winnipeg) has been hired as defensive coordinator.
UCF: Jim Fleming has been named defensive coordinator. Fleming was hired last month to serve as linebackers coach.
Indianapolis Colts: We've seen some reports from "NFL insiders" saying the idea of the Colts hiring Jim Tressel as head coach is preposterous...but we're passing along what we're hearing. Two sources close to the Colts tells us that Jim Irsay seeks and values Tressel's opinion and respects him as a coach. Our sources say the search is ongoing; but they advise that Tressel truly could be the next head coach...and if not they believe that Irsay would try to retain him within the organization in some capacity. Wagner (FCS - NY): We hear Malik Hall will rejoin the staff as defensive coordinator, a role he held in 2010. Hall coached the defensive line at UMass last season.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians has announced his retirement.
Gavilan (JC - CA): We have learned that Jubenal Rodriguez has been hired as outside linebackers coach (was DC at Sobrato HS in CA). We also hear that receivers coach Syd Bircher is moving to coach the secondary and running backs coach Kevin Booth is moving to inside linebackers. Sources tell us Gavilan is still looking to fill some positions on the offensive side of the ball.
Mendocino College (JC - CA): Head coach Mike Mari has added two coaches to the staff. Frank Espy has joined as special teams coordinator (from Ouachita Baptist) and Chris Vicory has been hired as offensive coordinator (from Humboldt State).
Eastern Illinois: Dino Babers has his staff. Full recap: Brian Callahan (OL) and Mike Lynch (RBs) have been retained. Sterlin Gilbert (OC / QBs...from Temple HS TX), Sean Lewis (inside receivers...from Akron), Andrew Sowder (outside receivers...West Texas A&M), Kim McCloud (DC...from Akron), Dino Kaklis (DTs...from Bethel), George Ricumstrict (DEs / OLBs...from Central Missouri), Tom Kaufman (LBs...from Texas where he was quality control), Nick Caley (DBs...from Iowa State where he was a grad assistant).
Harper College (JC - IL): As we previously mentioned, Harper dropped it's football program on Monday. We hear defensive coordinator Geoff Durian will continue to teach at Harper; but has accpeted the defensive coordinator job at Marmion Academy.
Tulsa: Following back up from yesterday, we have confirmed that Dan Bitson Jr. has accepted a spot on the staff at Tulsa.
Texas State: We hear former Rice assistant Rick Lafavers interviewed this week with Dennis Franchione.
Sam Houston State: SHSU is looking to add one game for the 2012 season. Open dates are September 1 and November 17, with a possibility of September 8th. Would prefer to play a home and home with the 2012 game at SHSU; but would also consider a guarantee game for 2012. If interested please contact Robby Discher at rsd009@shsu.edu
