Penn State: Bill Kavanaugh has been promoted to receivers coach and recruiting coordinator from graduate assistant. Also, Scott Paterno has announced that Joe Paterno has been diagnosed with a treatable form of lung cancer. 

Tulane: Sources close to the program tell us Tulane has told Rich Rod that they need an answer this weekend; otherwise they are prepared to move forward with another candidate. We hear the announcement will come early next week. We also hear that they believe they have secured the necessary funding to move forward with an on-campus stadium. 

Waldorf College (NAIA - Iowa): Head coach Greg Youngblood has resigned after completing his fifth season at the helm. "A nationwide search will begin immediately."

Southwest Minnesota State (DII): Southwest Minnesota State University is looking for a football Graduate Assistant; Defensive experience preferred. Responsibilities include assisting Head Coach in all phases of the football program. Coaching duties include assisting with practices, games, recruiting, camps, equipment, video and all aspects of the program. Qualifications include acceptance into graduate school (3.0 minimum GPA), enrolling in a minimum of six credits per semester, and candidate must meet the MnSCU vehicle driving qualifications. The stipend is $8,000 plus tuition waiver. Candidate review begins immediately and continues until filled. Alma College (D-III - MI): We hear head coach Jim Cole plans to retire. 

Buffalo State (D-III - NY): Buffalo State has an open date for the 2012 season and is looking for one away game on either September 15 or November 10. Please contact Assistant Football Coach Christian Ozolins at or at (716) 878-3679.

Lawrence University (D-III - WI): Associate head coach Mike Barthelmess has been promoted to head coach at Lawrence. Barthelmess takes over for Chris Howard who served as head coach for the previous seven seasons.

Ohio State: Just keeping you informed of what's out there. Late last night, a website devoted to Ohio State coverage tweeted that according to multiple sources, Urban Meyer has agreed to become the next head coach at Ohio State. The report is unconfirmed. More info available here
