Southern Miss: Delta State athletic director Jeremy McClain has been hired as senior associate athletic director for external operations at Southern Miss.
Delta State: Ronnie Mayers (assistant athletic director for development) has been named interim athletic director at Delta State following McClain's resignation.
Southern (FCS): AD William Broussard didn't give Stump Mitchell much of a vote of confidence after last night's loss to Mississippi Valley State. Update>Stump Mitchell has been reassigned within the athletic department and no longer is the head coach. Defensive coordinator Dawson Odums will serve as interim head coach for the season. Mitchell, who was in his third and final year of his contract, finished with a 6-18 record as head coach at Southern.
Clemson: Details of Dabo Swinney's contract were released yesterday. He signed a 6 year deal worth $1.965 million annually during the offseason. If Swinney leads the team to another conference title, his pay will increase to the average of the top three compensated coaches in the league. His previous contract called for him to make $2.2 this season, but Swinney opted to reallocate $300,000 of that to his assistant coaches. If fired, his buyout calls for him to collect 100% of his compensation in his first year after termination, 90% in the second year, and 75% and 60% in the third and fourth years, respectively. Numerous performance incentives were also added, including a $150,000 bonus for a national title, and a salary pool for his assistant coaches starting in 2014. Raises for the assistants will be applied to the total compensation pool and distributed as follows; 6% for a division title, 10% for an ACC title, and 18% for a national title.
