Tuesday November 4, 2008 (Game Changing Coaches - Week 10)
Texas Tech (Offensive Staff): 1-2-3. After the 39-33 dramatic come from behind win over Texas, the Red Raiders now rank 1st in passing offense, 2nd in total offense, and 3rd in the country in scoring offense. It's official, Mike Leach is a brilliant offensive mind. Seriously, did you really think Will Muschamp's defense would allow 31 first downs, 579 yards, and converted 8 of 16 third down conversions? Furthermore, the Red Raiders allowed only 2 sacks and turned the ball over once. A 95 yard scoring drive in the first half was huge, but the 63 yard game winning 2-minute drive will be remembered forever in Lubbock.

Millsaps College (Offensive Staff): Former Alabama head coach Mike Dubose led the Millsaps Majors to a 56-27 win over #8 (D3) Trinity College, snapping the Trinity 37 home game winning streak. In the win, the Majors racked up 31 first downs, 576 total yards, and scored 8 of 8 times in the red zone. First year offensive coordinator, John David Caffey, saw his offense convert 9 of 14 third down opportunities while not allowing a sack. The Majors completed 30-43 passes for 370 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Majors did not record a turnover. The win guarantees Millsaps at least a tie for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for the third consecutive year. Millsaps is now 8-0 on the season and is averaging 45 points per game.

Jon Long (Offensive Line)
David Johnson (Wide Receivers)
Drew Willis (Running Backs)
Alabama (Defensive Staff): The Crimson Tide defense allowed just 158 total yards in the 35-0 win over Arkansas State. Alabama limited the Red Wolves to 11 first downs, 2 of 12 third down conversions, created 4 sacks, and scored on Rashad Johnson's 32 yard interception return. Coach Saban heads into this week's matchup at LSU with the 2nd ranked rushing defense, 4th ranked total defense, and 6th ranked scoring defense in the country. Expect the Tide bring their "A" game in Baton Rouge.

Appalachian State (Offensive Staff): In front of a school record crowd of 30,931 fans, Appalachian State defeated Wofford 70-24. The Appalachian State offense averaged 9.5 yards per play by gaining 620 yards in only 65 plays. 27 first downs, 0 turnovers, and only 1 sack allowed must be pleasing to play caller Scott Satterfield. Read our summer article about Satterfield. Impressively, the Mountaineers scored touchdowns on their first 6 possessions. With the win, App State moves to 7-2 and now ranks 3rd in the nation in scoring offense, 5th in total offense, and 9th in turnover margin.

Entering the game, San Diego was averaging 39.4 points per game and ranked in the top 25 in total offense. However, the Dayton defense allowed only 226 total yards including 10 total yards rushing. Trailing 22-7 at halftime, head coach Rick Chamberlin must be proud of his troops for shutting out the San Diego offense in the 2nd half. The Dayton defense now ranks 6th in the nation in total defense, 2nd in rushing defense, and 4th in scoring defense. Dayton moves to 8-1 on the year with win and 5-0 in the Pioneer Football League. The win snapped San Diego's 28 home game winning streak.
