Dixie State (D-II - UT): Shay McClure will be the new head coach at Dixie State. McClure, the long time defensive coordinator at Humboldt State came to Dixie this past January and served as DC this season.

Auburn: Gus Malzahn noted during today's presser that he has not officially offered the defensive coordinator position vacated by Will Muschamp to anyone yet, but the search is "going well". For the bowl game, outside linebackers coach Lance Thompson will call the defense while defensive grad assistant Blake Gideon will coach the defensive backs and Travis Williams will coach the linebackers.

Alabama: Nick Saban has announced that strength coach Scott Cochran will remain at Alabama. Cochran and Kirby Smart are tight; but Nick & Alabama's resources won this battle. reports that Cochran is expected to earn in excess of $500,000 per year in his new deal.

Bowling Green: Per source corners coach Mike Mickens will remain on staff at Bowling Green.

Independence CC (JC - KS): Jason Brown, the former head coach at Compton CC (CA), will be the new head coach at Independence, per source.

Georgia: Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer will not coach Georgia's bowl game, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

McNeese State (FCS - LA): Defensive coordinator Lance Guidry will be offered the head coaching job, per Alex Hickey of the Lake Charles American Press. Guidry would take over for Matt Viator, who left to become the head coach at ULM (see below).

Thiel College (D-III - PA): Mercyhurst (D-II - PA) linebackers coach Dan Blume will be the program's new head coach, per source.

Duke: Offensive coordinator Scottie Montgomery, who is the new head coach at ECU, will call plays for Duke in their bowl game.

ECU: Recruiting coordinator / wide receivers coach Donnie Kirkpatrick agreed to stay on board until a new coach was in place in an attempt to keep the recruiting class together.

Finalists have been announced for the 2015 FBS Coach of the Year awards presented by ProGrass.

Edmonton Eskimos (Canada): The Eskimos have named Jason Maas their new head coach. Maas , a former quarterback for the franchise for nine seasons, served as offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach with the Ottawa RedBlacks last season.

Bowling Green: Per source, Cleveland Browns defensive coaching assistant Ryan Downard has joined the Bowling Green program and will serve as chief of staff for head coach Mike Jinks.

Jackson State (FCS): Sources tell FootballScoop Tony Hughes' agreement is three years, beginning at $265,000 per year. At Mississippi State Hughes made $400,000 last year per USA Today's data.

Dean College (JC - MA): Per source, assistant coach Steve Tirrell has been promoted to head coach.

Illinois State (FCS): Illinois State is looking to fill open dates Sept. 9, 2017, Sept. 1 and Sept. 8, 2018. Interested programs can contact Peyton Deterding at or 309-438-5111.

UW-Oshkosh (D-III):The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is looking for a non-conference opponent for the dates of September 3rd, 10th, or 24th 2016. Open to all levels of competition, willing to negotiate. Contact Spencer Erickson at or call (715) 412-3473.

Tennessee: As we stated weeks ago, the raise being discussed for Butch Jones is now official. Jones amended contract includes a $500,000 raise, bringing his annual salary to $4.1 million. Butch has five-years left on his contract, and the extension he signed last year took him through the 2020 season.

South Carolina: Shawn Elliott has officially been announced as offensive line coach and Jeff Dillman will be the strength and conditioning coach.

Montana State: Multiple outlets are reporting, and we can confirm, that Montana defensive coordinator Ty Gregorak is leaving for the same position on Jeff Choate's staff at Montana State. Gregorak served on the Griz staff for 12 seasons, four as defensive coordinator.

USC: Clay Helton has activated defensive quality control Keynodo Hudson to coach defensive backs for the bowl game we're told.

Scoop him up:TCU offensive line grad assistant Bryson Oliver is completing his final term as a grad assistant. With two seasons at TCU, 2 with Joe Wickline at Oklahoma State, one season as offensive line coach / recruiting coordinator at Tiffin University and 3 years as a student assistant at Texas Tech under Dana Holgorsen & Matt Moore, Oliver has the right experience. 

South Dakota: We can now confirm that Western Illinois head coach Bob Nielson has agreed to become the new head coach at South Dakota. We reported last week that Nielson was the choice; but Nielson and USD continued to negotiate the fine print through the weekend. Done deal now, per sources.

Delta State (D-II - MS): Head coach Todd Cooley has received a new four-year contract after leading the team to a 22-10 record in three seasons.

Manchester (D-III - IN): Manchester University is looking to hire a head football coach. Master's degree preferred, bachelor's degree required. Five years coaching experience preferred. Experience in D-III athletics (as a coach or student-athlete) preferred. This is a full-time exempt, salaried position. Louisiana-Monroe: We have confirmed that McNeese State (FCS - LA) head coach Matt Viator will be the new head coach at ULM. Gene Ponti was among the first to report the move. Viator has been extremely successful at the FCS level, going 62-27 overall, including a conference mark of 41-14 with three conference titles and four FCS playoff appearances. Jackson State (FCS - MS): As we reported last week, Jackson State plans to announce Mississippi State's Tony Hughes as their new coach later today, per multiple sources.

National Gridiron League (Australia): The NGL is seeking qualified head coaching candidates to join the new professional league. Previous head coach or coordinator experience required. head coaches will be tasked with selection of a coaching staff, building a roster, and competing within our new professional league. The inaugural season will begin in the Fall of 2016. The compensation package will include salary, housing, travel, and insurance. Please reply to if interested.

James Madison (FCS - VA): Sources tell FootballScoop that assistant head coach / recruiting coordinator / outside linebackers coach John Bowers and safeties coach Pete Davila have been let go. Also, head coach Everett Withers announced this morning that defensive coordinator Steve Sisa will return, but in a different role.

East Carolina: The ECU board of trustees has approved Scottie Montgomery's contract, and Pirate Radio reports that it's a five-year deal worth $1 million annually. The report adds that the salary pool for his assistants will be in the $1.8 million range.

Arizona State: Newly hired offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Chip Lindsey will assist in coaching the quarterbacks during bowl prep, but will not assume play calling duties until next season.
