Mississippi State: Sources tell FootballScoop Dan Mullen has recently interviewed three coaches for the open corners position at State, including Southern Miss corners coach Lytrel Pollard and Florida State quality control Troy Douglas. If all goes as planned, Mullen expects to have his new coach soon enough.

Georgia: Mississippi State offensive quality control James Vollono has agreed to join the staff at Georgia as assistant special teams coordinator source tells FootballScoop.

Missouri: According to SI, Missouri is set to hire Arizona State defensive line coach Jackie Shipp to coach their defensive line.

Army: Per source, Shadon Brown is the new corners coach at Army. Brown coached the safeties and served as the recruiting coordinator at Wofford (FCS) this past season.

Detroit Lions: The Lions have announced the addition of former Miami head coach Al Golden to coach the tight ends.

South Florida: USF has now officially announced former Tennessee defensive coordinator John Jancek as safeties coach.

Tennessee Titans: Keith Willis has been hired as assistant defensive line coach and Brandon Blaney will serve as a defensive assistant.

Fort Scott CC (KS): Fort Scott Community College is seeking applicants for a quarterbacks coach. This position includes room and board. Email resume, cover letter, and references to curtish@fortscott.edu. No phone calls.

Heidelberg (D-III - OH): Head coach Scott Donaldson has announced a few promotions and hirings to his staff. Branden Jakubcin (who coached the defensive backs and coordinated the special teams last season), has been promoted to defensive coordinator, a position that Donaldson held prior to his promotion to head coach. Jason Lewis, who has been an assistant on staff since 2009, has been named co-offensive coordinator along with Mike Coyne (who has coached the receivers since 2014). Donaldson will now coordinate the special teams as head coach.

Morehead State (FCS - KY): Head coach Rob Tenyer has had his contract extended through the 2019 season. Tenyer led the program to a 7-4 finish in 2015, his third season leading the team.

Murray State (FCS - KY): Defensive coordinator Chris Boone is adding the assistant head coach title & responsibilities and running backs coach Sean Dawkins is adding co-run game coordinator title as well, per sources.

Scoop him up: Jeremy Richardson has 12 years of coaching experience at a variety of levels, including the Junior College level as a head coach, and the Division II level as a position coach. Past coaching stops for Richardson include Bacone College (NAIA - OK), Palm Beach HS (FL), Joliet Junior College (IL), Glades Central Community HS (FL), and Northern Michigan (D-II) and he has also spoken at a number of clinics including the Nike Coaches Clinic. Richardson also has valuable experience as an NFL coaching intern with the Vikings where he made an impression on Chief Operating Office Kevin Warren, wide receivers coach George Stewart, running backs coach Kirby Wilson, defensive line coach Andre Patterson and assistant defensive line coach Robert Rodriguez. Kent State: Paul Haynes has announced a number of changes to his staff, including three coaches moving into new positions, and the hiring of one new coach. Linebackers coach Ben Needham will serve as defensive coordinator, and following signing day on Wednesday running backs coach Mark Spencer will take over Needham's recruiting coordinator responsibilities, and defensive graduate assistant Colin Ferrell will take over as defensive line coach. Also, Ferris State (D-II - MI) assistant head coach / offensive line coach Rob Zeitman has joined the staff as offensive line coach. Zeitman's offensive line at Ferris the last two years helped quarterback Jason Vander Laan take home the Harlon Hill (D-II Heisman) Trophy the past two seasons.

Southern Miss: Jay Hopson has a four year deal making $500,000 per year (with potential to earn bonuses). If Hopson leaves during the first three years, he would owe Southern Miss $2 million. Seriously. Why? If they terminate him without cause they would owe his remaining salary ($500k per year, paid monthly), fully subject to offset. Full term sheet can be seen here.

Kentucky: According to the Courier-Journal and Kentucky Sports Radio, Louisville wide receivers coach Lamar Thomas is nearing a deal to join the UK staff. We hear that it should be a done deal later today.

Stonehill (D-II -MA): Stonehill College seeks applicants for the position of assistant football coach for defense (defensive line). Preferred candidates will have prior experience playing/coaching on the defensive side of the ball, preferably defensive line, with at least 1 year of collegiate coaching experience and have ties to the Northeast region. Candidates will be responsible for coaching a position group, recruiting a geographical area, film editing/breakdown (HUDL), and all other duties assigned by the head football coach. A bachelor’s degree and valid driver’s license is required. Salary will be $12,000 and include an on-campus meal plan. No housing or health benefits are included. San Francisco 49ers: The Niners have announced Roy Anderson as assistant defensive backs coach.

Portland Thunder (Arena): Ron James has been named head coach and GM of the Portland Thunder.

Central Arkansas (FCS): Per source, there are a number of staff changes at Central Arkansas. Sources tell us that Larry Wagner (who was at Southern Illinois last season) will coach the running backs, Ryan Howard (who served as DFO last season) will coach the tight ends, quality control coach Gunnar Boykin will take over the DFO role and wide receivers coach Peter Bennet will add the recruiting coordinator title.

San Diego Chargers: The Chargers are hiring John McNulty to coach the tight ends according to Alex Marvez. McNulty coached the quarterbacks for the Titans last season.

Illinois Wesleyan (D-III): Illinois Wesleyan University is seeking a graduate assistant to work with the football program on defense. Candidates must be interested in a degree in Kinesiology and Recreation, must have a 3.0 GPA as an undergrad. Send cover letter, resume and references to Norm Eash at neash@iwu.edu.

Methodist University (D-III - NC): Per source, offensive coordinator Keven Williams is taking over as the program's new head coach. Williams takes over for CJ Goss, who resigned from the position last week.

NCAA: The NCAA has extended president Mark Emmert's contact through October 2020 with a one-year option.

South Alabama: The program has announced that linebackers coach Tracy Buckhannon will not return.

Eastern Kentucky: Per source, director of player personnel Brandon Lawson is leaving Middle Tennessee to join Mark Elder's staff at EKU as Director of Recruiting.

Truman State (D-II - MO): Truman State University is accepting applications for an offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach. Avila (NAIA - MO): Marc Wilson, who coached the linebackers and coordinated the special teams at Avila last season, has been promoted to defensive coordinator, per source.

Elon (FCS - NC): Per source, defensive line coach Patrick Madden has been promoted to defensive coordinator and will move to linebackers next season, and Gerald Butler will coach the defensive line. Butler worked in a quality control capacity at Texas A&M last season.

Trinity International (NAIA - IL): Per source, Horizon Christian Academy HS (CA) head coach Lamont Butler has been hired as the defensive coordinator at Trinity International University.

Elon (FCS - NC): After 40 years in the coaching profession, Elon defensive coordinator / linebackers coach Jerry Petercuskie has announced his retirement. Before coming to Elon, Petercuskie coached at NC State, Boston College, Virginia, Liberty, Rutgers, and Brown.

Tennessee Tech (FCS): Morehead State (FCS - KY) defensive coordinator Dontae Wright has joined the staff as special teams coordinator / defensive assistant, per source.

Grove City (D-III - PA): Grove City College has hired Mike Hoyt as their defensive coordinator / head strength and conditioning coach. Hoyt spent the last four seasons at McDaniel College (D-III - MA) as head coach.

UMass: Matt Dawson has joined the staff as tight ends coach. Dawson, a UMass alum, spent the last two seasons coaching the linebackers at Rhode Island (FCS). Also, head coach Mark Whipple has formally announced that graduate assistant Scott Woodward has been promoted to quarterbacks coach, replacing Liam Coen, who left to become the offensive coordinator at Maine (FCS).

Detroit Lions: Former Maryland head coach Randy Edsall is joining the Lions staff as director of football research / special projects. Edsall spent five years leading the Maryland program before being let go during the season.

Alcorn State: With Jay Hopson leaving for Southern Miss, Alcorn State quarterbacks coach / assistant head coach Fred McNair will serve as the interim head coach, per multiple reports.
