He will retain Galen Scott who served as linebackers coach under Larry Porter and he will retain Jeff Kupper who served as director of football operations under Porter. He is also adding Vance Vice from Louisiana Monroe. Vice will coach the offensive line.
Arkansas State: We hear that Texas Tech offensive coordinator Neal Brown has interviewed as well...add another young offensive minded coach to the list of candidates.
Minnesota Crookston: Fresno State's offensive quality control coach, Jeff Cheek, has been named the offensive coordinator at Minnesota Crookston.
Illinois / Toledo: A very interesting situation unfolding with Tim Beckman being named head coach at Illinois. Beckman has publicly said he planned to offer coaching positions to many of his staff at Toledo...problem is, at least currently, many of them seem content to stay at Toledo. Offensive coordinator Matt Campbell "Soup" has been named interim head coach at Toledo and is hoping to get the job. If so, we are told a number of the assistants would choose to remain at Toledo. No issues between Beckman and Campbell that we are aware of...in fact Beckman has offered Campbell the OC position at Illinois...just need to see if he gets the job at Toledo.
